My little thread about #Signal Desktop #memory #forensics is jumping in popularity after that @Atlantic article hit the web.

Need to dig deeper in, if anyone knows how to carve a data segment out of memory for a specific PID using Vol3, that would be super helpful. Just a thought

Still would trust them with my life, and the lives of my friends, but interesting stuff in the memory. For instance, people I haven't talked to in 3 years showed up in the memory dump with a field called "SharedGroupNames" that listed every group that both I and that individual were associated with. Also, the "LastMessage" field was often populated with a plaintext version of the last thing the individual had messaged me.

Some more cyanotypes from the last few days. It's not been sunny, but enough UV light gets through the clouds to drive the reaction.

A cyanotype which looks like an explosion of shards of light in a blue darkness. It is random sharp shapes, lots of triangles, lots of overlaps. The central area is whiter / lighter, with deeper blue pieces more abundant towards the edges

This was the origami 'waves' model by Engel, folded from cyanotype coated rice paper. It has a lot of layers, so the top layer gets darkest blue, and by the fourth layer the paper is white. But because of the complexity of the folding, the image is an abstract composition, perhaps 60% white with random areas of random shaped blue all over. The crease lines are also visible

A small cyanotype, about 10 x 6 cm in real life. It used leaves of a water reed as the subject. There are 4 sections of reed, three of which extend past the edge of the image. Those at left and right show blue lines of detail of the veins of the leaves. Second left is essentially a white stripe. The final leaf only extends halfway, is white, and looks like a slightly curving horn. The background is almost a denim blue with a slight green tint

Cyanotype of 7 reed leaves arranged in a naturalistic fashion. They are predominantly white against a green-brown background with also shows hints of blue. The leaves and arrangement could remind you of horns, long crab claws, swords...

The runners unexpectedly intersected the funeral procession for a fallen warrior in Ukraine's #war against #ethnofascist #imperialism

I have been back making cyanotypes.

Each of of these cyanotypes is a literal memory (as defined by my first philosophy of memory publication!).

Artist life has been hard lately. No change there, really, but it helps to make things.

This means it has blue geometric patterns all over it - a central diamond, two layers of diagonal lines around that, then a ring of blocks, and triangles at the corners

Had the wonderful pleasure of getting to see the outside of "Au Lapin Agile " while in paris. It looked very cozy so I was inspired to create this piece. Lots of artistic history associated with this petit cabaret. My mom told me that my great grandma used to spend her college years there and I like to imagine that she had the chance to meet Picasso or some other famous artists of the time. It is magical

I’d like to learn more about something:

How does a web page that doesn’t weigh 50 KB (compressed) consume 68 MB RAM?

There surely is more going on here, but given that entire browsers used to be smaller than 68 MB, what exactly? Is that excess imagined or real?

(Do you have recommendations on what to read up on?)

does anyone remember Whirled? it was sorta like Second Life or VR Chat, but 2D and it ran in the browser. It's still sort of around but it hasn't been the same since they let Flash die. I would love to see something like that again... hanging out with my internet friends, in a web browser.

quick question: for e.g. my T480, the maximum specified and reported memory capacity is 32GB, but some people managed to install 64GB. (or 48GB for the vPRO models)

To see if this is only a thing affecting y device, I need a few more data points. If you own a T480 and run Linux, please run the following command and post your output below: sudo dmidecode -t memory | grep 'Maximum Capacity'.

Can anyone explain to me why and how it is possible to run more memory than supported and how to find out if that also applies to other devices?

So I am thinking on what this means and what project(s) might be important to various forms of erasure. Poets help us find the words for so many experiences. Where are our poets? Are we ready to start witnessing, to write so that we may never forget? And how and where shall we curate these memories, these testimonies?

The title of a 2014 article by Kozlovsky, et. al. says it all: “Chickadees with bigger brains have smaller digestive tracts.” Chickadees, especially ones who live in the coldest and most variable habitats, have figured out how to eat smarter, not bigger. That could easily be my New Year’s resolution."
