One of my colleagues works remotely and used to do occasional testing on a #Mac. However the Mac he had was left lying around since it was stuck on 10.13 and hence has not been getting security updates since November 12, 2020 and has not even been usable with Vivaldi for a long while also.
We are sending him a newer Apple Silicon based Mac (since that would also allow easier testing of internal builds using iOS simulator) but in the mean time I pointed out that he could upgrade his current machine with #OpenCoreLegacyPatcher, despite Apple preventing upgraded via the regular method.
He went all the way from #macOS #HighSierra 10.13, right up to macOS 15 #Sequoia without any obvious issues. Once again, it is silly that Apple is letting these working machines just be wasted.
We got the old keyboard to get us into the recovery menu, but reinstalling #Sequoia still fails to boot. Lots of internet posts about this but no one has posted a solution.
Can't see boot up messages to get an idea of where the boot is failing, and tailing /var/log/system.log in rescue mode only showed the logs for the rescue boot...

Huh, macOS finally added native window snapping 
That was about a decade overdue. They also copied the little window tiling popover menu that Windows 11 put on the maximize button. It's super nice. 
One thing that's super weird though is how the side-by-side tiling from the workspace switcher is still there as an entirely different system to the window snapping. Having two entirely different tiling systems is a very odd choice. 
Either way, snapping is nice to finally have.
How blessed to live within 3.5hrs of Yosemite. This weekend's runs were out of the southern Yosemite entrance. Today's early run I was given the honor of having the entire Mariposa Grove to myself. What a treat.
Yesterday's run was a similar solo affair reaching into the back country beyond Chilnualna Falls. The trails through burned forest were tight and overgrown.

Nope. Been stuck at the Apple logo and a 20-25% progress bar for the last hour. Is it actually doing anything? Who knows! Will it recover if I force power it off and back on? Who knows!
(FWIW, my M1 Mac mini on my testbench updated just fine in a matter of mere minutes)

I was trying to generate a DANE record with
sq network dane generate uvokchee.de .local/share/pgp.cert.d/d8/282056687016852d7954ff062b92b7c02e9784
My DNS provider failed at adding it, the developer tools revealed the endpoint was giving me a 502.
I used https://www.huque.com/bin/openpgpkey instead.
That gave me a completely different DNS entry to add.
The DNS RR content looked like base64. So I did basically a base64 -d | gpg --list-packets > somefile for both RRs and compared them.
Then it hit me.
Using .local/share/pgp.cert.d/d8/282056687016852d7954ff062b92b7c02e9784 is an utterly stupid idea.
It contains non exportable signatures . So my DNS provider was actually rightfully rejecting this payload!
edit: Nevermind. I'm a silly chee. I used the wrong domain name!
edit2: Nevermind2. I mistyped.
Just watched a talk about "Sequoia PGP", and I'm not 100% I "get it", the sq command line interface in particular. I can download my WKD keys, but apparently I can't "list all public keys" I have - but maybe it's because my mental model still works in terms of gpg, and sq seems to have another model. (Apparently I can do sq pki list (--gossip) which is used for something completely different?)
