Other magnificent orchid, this one with deep royal purple petals.

I’m not an orchid person, so I don’t know the variety, but I love deep lavender petals speckled with lighter lavender markings.

Dreamy lavender petaled Trumpet Vine… The flowers have buttery yellow centers, surrounded by lush green leaves.

Epidendrums look like they’re growing upside down. With the lip up instead of down. These gorgeous purple orchids are very small and bunched on top of a stock long thin spray.

Here’s a close-up of the lovely orchid with its frilly lip that has a yellow center. The lip is straight up at the top of the picture with its five other petals below.

Entering the orchid dimension.

Extreme closeup photograph of the interior of an orchid in the Orchid House of Chicago's Lincoln Park Conservancy. The view is down and upside-down into the lower petals that cup the reproductive organs. The outer petals are white but become magenta and orange near and around the opening to the flower's center. The flower's interior is brightly lit from behind creating a heart-shaped tunnel. Inside the tunnel is the large reproductive column that ends in the anther cap with the plant's pistil below. The column for this variety is white with a few pale purple dots on the top and sides. The column and anther cap have a sort of unworldly aspect not unlike an alien species in another dimension.

A new bloom on my sequential blooming slipper orchid, Paphiopedilum chamberlainianum, probably my favorite of all my orchids despite each flower’s small size. It’s a beauty! #orchid #orchids #BloomScrolling #flowers #SlipperOrchid

A slipper orchid bloom. It has a bright pink slipper with tiny darker spots and a cream color around the top edge. There’s a dark green pentagonal disk above it and then two long twisty fuzzy lateral petals the same pale color but with many dark maroon dots. The top or lateral petal shades from a deep spring green in the center to the very pale yellow, almost white, at the edge and has 10 handsome dark stripes in graduating lengths on top of that. This is a very eye-catching orchid.
