Something that I hate about online critic culture is the way that it discourages critical thinking, In the sense that part of being able to critically analyze a story is critical thinking. But what I feel like often happens instead is lots of people just buy and fully believe whatever their favorite online critic says. And because of that, don't critically analyze media beyond their online favorite personality has said about it

In 1999, the directors and score-writer for the "Hey, Ernest!" movie franchise made a low-budget apocalyptic musical comedy about a dystopian America controlled by corporations and the church, and fought by a ragtag army of anarchist artists.

It's also the last live-action film Jim Carrey appeared in. It's also the only film to feature a penis shaped pogo stick.

It's a VHS transfer, but it's worth a watch.

Over the winter I stumbled across these two films starring Kyle Gallner. I am impressed with his portrayals of alienated Midwestern youth. I had feared the information age had made punk rock extinct in all but name.

I’ve been temporarily distracting myself from everything for a few hours each week by watching StudioGhibli/Miyazaki #films and #reading The Hamster Princess series by Ursula Vernon.

I’d only ever seen a few of the films, but I’ve been catching up, thanks to my local library/interlibrary loan program. Every time I pick up a new one, I watch it through 2x on the days I’m working when closed to the public.

I know the Hamster Princess books are for little kids, but I’m a sucker for fairy tales. I fully intend to give my great niece the full set when she’s a bit older. I might not wait to buy them though

I’ve got several more Vernon/Kingfisher adult targeted books on my future reads list, but I’m just not in the mood for scary things right now.

Why is this a bomb? Well, if you spend a reported $250 million on shoots and reshoots, about $100 million on ads (industry standard), then have to share 50% of the profit with the theaters...

The math isn't mathing. Not to say it's a bad movie, but it was definitely a failure at the box office.
