It comes from a loose coalition of #archivists & #librarians, who are standing athwart #history & yelling “Save!” They belong to organizations such as the #InternetArchive, which co-created a project called the End of Term Web Archive to back up the federal web in 2008; the Environmental Data & Governance Initiative, or #edgi; & #libraries at major #universities such as #MIT & the University of #Michigan.
Pit firing connects us to over 30,000 years of shared human artistry.
Once a year, I return to this ancient technique, shaping clay, and letting fire and smoke complete the story. Honoring the legacy of those before me, I’m reminded how art endures across time.

On 4 July 1964 the five members of the Rolling Stones formed the panel on Juke Box Jury. Surly to a man, they voted every record a miss - great for their image, not so good for their fellow professional musicians.
Geoffrey Davien, an artist and sculptor, created this ceramic of Christine Keeler in 1964, an example of how she made a huge and instant impact on British society.
I think there is more to Christine’s story than the glamour and the scandal. They are the obvious focal points, but in terms of the person, in some ways I think they are misleading.

Looking to share in the success of the Triumph Herald and the Ford Anglia, Vauxhall developed the Viva. They needed a new factory, and because government planning regulations decreed that large new factories could only be situated near unemployment black spots, they built new plants on Merseyside, a location suffering from dockyard decline.
