@nomeata I miss #PixelQi and their #Transflective screens.
I've already seen #eInk monitors, but they are exensive af (espechally given their specs!)...
@NanoRaptor given that #eInk nowadays can do up to 7 colours and early #LCD|s were as slow as the fastest eInk screens these days, would you expect some "sunlight readable" or "Ergo" series #Apple Devices in a parallell universe?
Maybe an idea for your #next #PremiumShitpost...?
#Amazon #Kindle)!
I recently switched from #Pocket to (self-hosted) #Wallabag and put #KOReader on my #Kobo #eInk reader.
It started as a quick "let's see how it goes", but developed into a complete switch, and a whole new way how I read and process books and articles. I am seriously impressed!
… might blog about it soon.

@Edent true*, though check the #eInk displays, price & API simplicity. I understand the why? (low power, multi colours, always on).
* My bias as I’ve used eink every day since 2020 & I see the limitations / advantages & currently looking at active displays <https://github.com/peterrenshaw/thisnote>
Pretty happy with my badger2040 now.
The buttons dont do anything yet, i just wanted to get something simple done for now.
Here's the repository: https://codeberg.org/akselmo/badger2040-conbadge
The artwork is originally by Fefairy: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/59975526// . I just edited it to be black and white with dithering.
Calling it a night.
I know *what* is going wrong - I need to connect to the badge via BLE. But I can't see how. The SDK documentation is incomplete and the demo app doesn't work.
If anyone fancies doing some pair programming in the week, or just wants to look at a shonky library - let me know!
@Edent I’ve used Pimoroni, 2 colour.
#Pimoroni does a good job with the #eInk. Open source python with #documentation and examples. What you don’t get is that shell container which could be scratch built or sourced.

Would you want a dedicated e-ink text adventure console? Niche... but pretty cool idea. https://inkconsole.com/
Geniale Features:

Recently got a new Kobo Clara Colour a few days ago and I've been enjoying my first dedicated e-reader so far! I've got a huge backlog of comics and e-books, so it made a lot of sense to go for a colour E-Ink screen. The colours are somewhat muted like what newspaper comics look, but I actually like that since I used to read those all the time!
Apparently these Kobo e-readers run Linux, so I'm interested in figuring out how this device can be extended further.
I'm experimenting with a setup that allows me to code on my eInk tablet, using code-server remotely, hoping that I'll be able to work out in the sun, once the season.

TRMNL is such a cool company and product! I was looking into e-ink screen dashboards a while back and this ticks all the checkboxes; not to mention how flexible they are about FOSS and the open source community as a whole. https://usetrmnl.com/
