Implemented submission of tags to my MusicBrainz Sync plugin for MusicBee! Also got the function working in a way where I don't need to keep rewriting code. Getting so close to completion now.

Was racking my brain as to why MusicBrainz kept rejecting my requests on my C# MusicBee plugin specifically, even when everything worked via a manual cURL request.
Turns out, I overlooked the fact that MusicBrainz will reject it if you don't have a proper user agent. Whoops.
Big nerd news: Harmony, a streaming site release aggregator/importer for #MusicBrainz (https://harmony.pulsewidth.org.uk/) quietly dropped shortcuts to seed recording (individual songs) relationships with their specific streaming URL pages.
Recording relationships have gone off the charts - literally.
This huge increase in track-specific data may also open doors for @ListenBrainz matching, and for others who use our datasets. -a
It's a bit funny that the reason I'm working on a plugin for MusicBee and coding it in Windows/Visual Studio, is so my workflow of transferring music metadata to MusicBrainz can be done on Linux lol.
For you music library folks, how is something being "higher quality" determined exactly?
I sure hope it's not purely looking at file size or codec/bitrate.
One other huge factor I consider is how the song is mastered/mixed.
Can it compare the waveform and spectrogram of a track and see if it has been loudness-warred / peaked-out / dynamic range crushed?
Can it show that stuff to you or does it do that or does it not do ANY of that?
If you are posting new material on #Bandcamp for #BandcampFriday don't forget about #Harmony -- a tool you can use to import the release from BC into #MusicBrainz for documenting and distributing the metadata to a zillion other places.
@dpplggr Congrats! I'm at 1,780
#MusicBrainz applied edits myself. I almost always click to have my edit be voteable though. Are auto-edits preferred? Maybe I've been "doing it wrong"
I reached 100,000 auto-edits on #MusicBrainz the other day. Took me almost 20 years but it feels like an achievement.
Happy I Love Free Software Day [ilovefs.org]!
Unfortunately, this year I could not join nor organize any in-person celebration, BUT of course I want to share my gratitude to the many, countless #FreeSoftware services I don’t merely use, but actually depend on.
Last year, I decided to focus only on #YunoHost, because it would have been crazy to list all the projects I use and I love.
This time, even if I will most certainly forget someone, I am challenging myself to mention all the #LibreSoftware my life is powered by.
Without further ado, THANK YOU to:
Lastly, but most importantly, the biggest thank you goes to all the free software libraries and dependencies the above mentioned #software are made of/built with, including #C, #JavaScript, #Python, #Rust, and all community-maintained programming languages.
I am super sorry if I forgot someone!
In 2023, I wrote a plugin for MusicBrainz Picard that lets you submit your tags for a given track to the tags for its equivalent recording entity on MusicBrainz. The intention was to make it easier to submit tags so whatever systems MusicBrainz is using tags for (like ListenBrainz's recommendation engine) will have more data to work with.
And uh, fast forward now when my hard drive with all my music library died. In the process of recovering from a backup from around the same time and I'm also retrieving my tags too.
Ideally, I would've had a proper backup and all, but I'm so fucking glad I made the plugin now, lmao.
Does anyone know what's going on with #listenbrainz and #MusicBrainz ?
I can't open the website since a week or so and the service doesn't seen to work but I also did not find any info about a general problem.
Love this.

All hail @internetarchive! Album and event artwork uploading is back and is being tested on #MusicBrainz BETA. The beta site uses live data so image uploads are “permanent”, as always.
To switch to the beta site, click on “Use beta site” in the MusicBrainz footer -a

There are people who practice #mindfulness…
I prefer instead to dedicate a couple of hours to the mindful practice of contributing to #MusicBrainz. It is so smooth and nice thanks to https://atisket.pulsewidth.org.uk
#MusicBrainz is announcing a major mirror upgrade for Nov 25, 2024. The minimum version of Docker Compose will go to v2. Search will be upgraded from Solr 7 to 9.
Mirrors will likely require a reinstall - stay tuned for instructions.
