Psst, hey: HACKERS ARE NOT TECH BROS. The vast majority of hackers never become tech bros. The ethics of hacking runs completely counter to that of tech bros.

Hackers make hardware do things they weren’t intended to do. They circumvent barriers. They string together contraptions that repurpose old stuff to do new things. Hackers aren’t that interested in money; they’re more interested in showing off their skills. They love to learn and make demos and create and share free tech that other hackers then build upon. All they want is acknoweledgement and the respect of their peers.

Tech bros are parasites. They’re greedy bastards who love to erect barriers between people and tech. They extract, addict, monetize. They turn everything fun and useful into a transaction, a dopamine trap, a subscription, a surveillance tool, an advertising outlet, and a vector to extract money from labor and suppliers.

Please don’t get them mixed up.

Game copy protection was an art form, as well as #cracking these protections. This cat and mouse game evolved over time, with protections including more and more complicated and well-hidden checks trying to identify poor or quickly made cracks. The best protections hindered the release of a crack long enough for the game to hit enough initial sales. After the initial sales the eventual release of a crack would no longer hurt (much).

Rewind to 2025 and legal purchase of early 90s PC games from places such as COG: Apparently, there are plenty of releases that have the poor crack built-in, and where the anti-crack checks kick in, making the game unplayable. The irony is that the only way to play is to get a proper "real crack".

I think I shouldn't hide my poems anymore. I have farooqkz.com domain now. I think I will do a static website at poetry.farooqkz.com with hugo. Then with a custom theme and perhaps some Javascript, I will give each poem a hash and name the poem after the last 2-3 hexadecimal digits of the poem.

I wonder if I can do the hashnaming with hugo alone and without using JS. Also the website must have 3 languages. However all websites I've done with hugo till now are mono.

BTW, Do you think it should be "Programmer Poet" or "Poet Programmer"? For someone like me who generates both code and poems

Former employee sentenced To 3 Years In Federal Prison For Conducting Series Of Cyber Intrusions Against Walt Disney World and changing menu allergen information.

According to court documents, Michael Scheuer, a Walt Disney World menu production manager, conducted a series of computer intrusions or attacks directed at his former employer following his termination. These intrusions included manipulating allergen information in restaurant menus to indicate that food items were safe for customers with certain allergies, when they were not. Scheuer also altered menu information related to wine regions to reflect locations of recent mass shootings. Additionally, Scheuer launched denial-of-service attacks designed to lock certain company employees out of their accounts.

"It appears that 4chan was susceptible to a hack because it was running very out of date code that contained various vulnerabilities, according to 404 Media’s look at the code and people sorting through the hack online.

That starts to answer the question of how this happened. But why did it happen? This all has roots in a five year old meme fight.

Soyjak.party, the site where a user began posting about the 4chan hack, was an offshoot of 4chan created as a joke about five years ago. Besides being a general cesspool,
4chan has long been a place that incubates memes. lolcats, the NavySeal copypasta, and Pepe the Frog grew and spread on 4chan’s imageboards. From time to time a meme is overplayed or spammed and mods on the site get tired of it.

Five years ago, users spammed the /qa/ board with soyjaks. Unable to quash the tide of soyfaced jpegs, 4chan shut down the entire /qa/ board. The soyajk loving exiles of 4chan started a new site called soyjak.party where they could craft open mouthed soyboy memes to their heart’s content. When 4chan was hacked on the night of April 14, the /qa/ board briefly returned. “/QA/ RETURNS SOYJAK.PARTY WON” read a banner image at the top of the board.

As of this writing, 4chan is still down."
