Ford promised bike lane removals could happen today onward in TO (Bloor W, Yonge, & Uni). That means we’ve got to be vigilant & have our eyes open. If you see construction crews amassing to remove lanes, post/tag local cycling orgs & advocates. Send pictures. Be safe & don’t interfere.
If you see bike lanes being removed, please report it to

Now THIS is fascinating:
Population density:
Netherlands: 520/km²
Toronto: 4,427.8/km²
Households without a car:
Netherlands: 26% (2020)
City of Toronto: 28% (2016)
Total dedicated cycle tracks:
Netherlands: >35,000km
City of Toronto: 467km
We have so much potential!

h/t @notjustbikes for getting me thinking about this comparison!
Seems rallying my neighbours worked. More people wrote in to support the bike rack (thanks to my poking) than complained about it. Councillor responded and hopefully the issue is closed.
For now, the bike rack seems safe.
"Premier Doug Ford and his government have been given the go-ahead to rip up Toronto’s bike lanes as originally planned starting March 20, after a Superior Court judge denied a request for a temporary injunction.
Justice Stephen Firestone on Friday denied an application by cycling advocates for an injunction that would have halted the removal of bike lanes on Bloor Street, Yonge Street and University Avenue until" an April 16 Charter challenge.
Attention #BikeTO and Toronto cyclists generally: Cycle Toronto has postponed tomorrow's scheduled "Coldest Day of the Year" ride. They haven't announced a new date (or if there's a route change). What information they posted is at the page for the ride, https://www.cycleto.ca/coldest_ride_2025
Heads up, #BikeTO: next Critical Mass is this Friday, 2025-01-31.
Toronto has a date for the annual "Coldest Day of the Year" ride: Saturday February 15th. The actual riding starts at 11am in the Perth Avenue Parkette (just north of Bloor, just east of Dundas, on the east side of the rail tracks). More details: https://www.cycleto.ca/coldest_ride_2025
No poor weather, just poor preparation. #bikeTO

Google Photos just popped up with a "memories" album it auto-created with photos from 2016.
Almost all of the photos are from my bicycle commute to work, and it unintentionally showed just how ridiculous the whole "nobody cycles in the winter" excuse really is.
Most of the photos were bicycle lanes completely covered in snow, and mostly turned to hardened ice in the form of tire-treads, due to cars driving over them.
GEE, I WONDER WHY NOBODY IS CYCLING HERE?
Just for a friendly reminder, Toronto's next #CriticalMass ride is happening TOMORROW! Meet 6 PM at Bloor & Spadina for 6:30 PM departure. #BikeTO #TOpoli #VisionZero www.facebook.com/events/12995...
