Sir Terry Pratchett was one of two people who I quoted directly in my dissertation. This line from Feet of Clay was the motto for my introductory chapter:
"This is where we’ve filled ourselves up with so many questions that they’re starting to overflow and become answers."
It resonated with me, because this is what doing research often feels like for me.

I think I'm really gonna love my class on chaos and fractals this semester. Today's lecture consisted of the professor playing with a parabola in some graphing software and showing us whole new dimensions of surprising behavior hidden within, using the simple tool of iterative mapping. My mind was blown.
Then again, I haven't taken a math class in, like, 20 years, I may be a wee bit rusty, and the professor said it will be very hard. So, we'll see how that goes!

@SeaFury@aus.socialJust got off the phone with a fellow PhD student. He is beside himself because he needs money but there is pressure on him to finish the PhD. I told him to ignore the PhD until he can pay for food and rent. The PhD can slide until his physical (and mental health) needs are met. And still the university keeps pressuring him (emails etc) There is so little understanding of the huge (and extended) financial hit PhD students go through over the 4 years of study (especially if there are kids involved) Anyway, I convinced him to come to the lab Christmas party because the lab is going to pay for it. Otherwise he would have to miss it. #PhDLife

I can relate to this SO MUCH. I even see this in my research interviews - establishing rapport with neurodivergent strangers comes extremely easy. NTs, on the other hand? They're different

Update on the interview study:
* 2 more interviews to conduct.
* All completed interviews have been (automatically) transcribed.
* One transcript has been (manually) checked for correctness, and timestamps have been added.
This means that about 8.3% of conducted interviews have been transcribed and checked.
MaxQData has been installed and set up.
I've never used it so far, so let's see how this goes.
TIL: Discord has a length limitation for messages.
