I am not a #law professor but if I was and I had to teach a #trademark law class I would absolutely include this case In re Lizzo LLC decided by the USPTO's Trademark Trial and Appeal Board in which the examining attorney's refusal to register "100% That Bitch" was reversed by the TTAB. It's actually a very interesting case but my favorite part was the examining attorney's inclusion of a screenshot from the Urban Dictionary to justify the refusal. 😂

There are exceptions to these "rules" ofc. If you're a famous artist with tons of fans you can get away with breaking (some) or all of these rules. Again, it's often about understanding the principles/reasoning behind them. #Lizzo and #SZA can get away with addressing two different people in the same song, especially b/c that song is an absolute BOP. You will have a much harder time of it.
