Raw frame from Blade Runner and how it looks on my color e-ink "very slow movie player" frame. This thing is impossible to photograph because of how reflective the glass is but it looks amazing in person. The color e-ink really looks so cool / very different from a grid of backlit pixels. Wish I could capture it better!

It seems like the entire world of film-enthusiasts came together and decided to bully one person for no reason what so ever. And that one person is Michael Bay.

Of late, I can't stop watching David Cronenberg movies; made a brief foray to Possession earlier this week too. Keen to discuss / chat if anyone has opinions!
Damn, Val Kilmer passed away.
I love his performance as Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone’s The Doors biopic, among other roles…
This week on #MONSTERDON -- the weekly monster movie watch party -- we have LASERBLAST (1977).
Over the years many have asked the question, "What if you took a depressing teen movie and gave the loser hero a laser cannon? Wouldn't that be awesome?"
Laserblast definitively answers that question; No. It would still suck.
Join us at 9pm Eastern this Sunday for a *remarkably* bad film. It's on Tubi or over here on Archive.org: https://archive.org/details/laserblast_202503
Cat People (1942)

So the woman is the cat? Cheers now we don't need to see the movie. I'm not obsessive about spoilers but WTF.
I thought of this movie just the other day as a Transport For NSW 490 Bus sneaked up behind me and unexpectedly shot a blast of air from its pneumatics system. If you know, you know.
"Coyote vs. Acme" has been saved! Read all about it on Hotchka+
"Coyote vs. Acme" was completed and then shelved due to Warner Bros. cost-cutting more than a year ago, much to the chagrin of its star Will Forte, who referred to it as "a delightful movie. It deserves so much better than what it got." Now you'll get the chance to decide for yourself as Ketchup Entertainment has made a deal to distribute the Looney Tunes flick, with a theatrical release expected in 2026. Here's @Deadline with all the details.

Folks it is about 45 minutes until #MONSTERDON the weekly monster movie watch party. If you want to avoid it, consider setting up a hashtag filter.
If you'd like to join in, this week we're watching CAT GIRL (1957), which appears to have precisely zero meowing Twitch streamers but DOES have a cursed heiress. Eh, you win a few you lose a few.
The flick's on Tubi or over here on Archive.org: https://archive.org/details/catgirl1957_201910
See you there!
Can't emphasize enough how much I enjoy reading the @thecontinent - it's a Saturday morning highlight, even when the stories are dark, there's always hope in it. These days it feels like a minor act of resistance to seek out news from new places where people are doing their best to build up the bulwark of solid information against the power of manipulated narrative.

Flipboard@flipboard.social - What is the most inclusive film festival in the world? @thecontinent says it’s the Berlinale, which this year supported multiple African movies and auteurs. The Golden Bear — the festival’s grand prize — was won by Senegalese-French Mati Diop for her art reparations documentary, “Dahomey.” She is the first Black person to win that award.
