So, like, I have been to skate parks before, way back into the high school days even. They were always great places to go with friends to shoot photos while they rode. Getting the scooter and going out with Kalash was a blast, but I was worried I wouldn't be able to make friends beyond him who also enjoyed extreme sports.
That experience at the #skatepark yesterday was goddamn incredible. People came together iMMEDIATELY. I was the new guy, and everyone was all too eager to introduce themselves and share tips and tricks to an awkward noob on a scooter. It was just... holy crap. It was so great. A kind of instant comradery I used to see in my earlier days in the furry fandom which feels a bit lost these days.
I seriously can't wait to get back out to that bowl and meet "the regulars" again. I can't wait to try other skate parks and connect with those groups. Knowing about the insta-kinship of a subculture is one thing, experiencing it is such a rush!
