Went out for a hike after a day of horrendous wind. The clouds were lifting.

I'm a member of Latimer Art Club, the oldest art club in the state of Nevada. (It has a pretty interesting history, but I will save that for some other time.) The club meets bimonthly, and one of the highlights in the February meeting that occurs this weekend is a mini painting exchange. I choose a painting I am proud of; maybe not what I LOVE, but proud to put my name on. So this is what I chose.

What a relief! The weather held until the reception ended. The event was successful and I am so grateful; to the people who came out, commented how much they liked the work, for the library for their support, for friends and family for their support. @NevadaWolf came ❤️ also some pilots who gave me permissions to use their aerial photos for reference.
The show runs until Feb 25, at Northwest Reno Library.

With my friend and son's help, the show is up at Northwest Reno Library! Just a couple years ago I marveled at Sidne Teske's show in this space, but never thought I'd be showing my own work here in this beautiful gallery.
So grateful that Washoe County Library System support local artists and provide such wonderful venues. If you are local to Reno, NV, I hope you'll come visit!

I'm wrapping up my 2024 with a celebration. I was just notified that my painting was selected as one of Honorable Mentions, Emerging Artist - Dakota Art Pastel Fourth Quarter contest.

"July 13th"

Updated a plein air painting I did on July 13th, 2022 at Davis Creek pond in Washoe City, NV. Beautiful day, even though I had to fight the sun. I put it away when I came home, then two years later I finished it by adding lights.
In September, there was a wildfire that started in Davis Creek that spread quickly. I'm pretty sure that these trees I painted are now gone.
