TamamiI'm a member of Latimer Art Club, the oldest art club in the state of Nevada. (It has a pretty interesting history, but I will save that for some other time.) The club meets bimonthly, and one of the highlights in the February meeting that occurs this weekend is a mini painting exchange. I choose a painting I am proud of; maybe not what I LOVE, but proud to put my name on. So this is what I chose. I was just notified that my painting was selected as one of Honorable Mentions, Emerging Artist - Dakota Art Pastel Fourth Quarter contest. <a href="https://www.dakotapastels.com/content/2024-fourth-quarter-winners?preview=true" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank">https://www.dakotapastels.com/content/2024-fourth-quarter-winners?preview=true</a> There were about 650 entries in this category alone, and this is my very first time being selected for anything this major. It's a view of behind the Huntsman Cancer Institute where I was taking a walk while husband was in a treatment. Beautiful day, even though I had to fight the sun. I put it away when I came home, then two years later I finished it by adding lights. In September, there was a wildfire that started in Davis Creek that spread quickly.
