This is one you do not want to get!
It takes fewer than 20 virus particles to get a person sick with #Norovirus.
Onset is rapid, and duration of illness can be 24 to 72 hours. You will NOT just be resting in your own bed or on the couch during that time; you WILL be camping out in your bathroom.
Luckily this is one that is mitigated by handwashing and other viral chain-breaking procedures.
Some tips to avoid it: practice strict hand hygiene, especially being aware of when you've touched something with your hands not to touch your own face, not sharing raw foods (berries, carrot sticks, etc.) or finger foods (bags of chips, cookies, etc.) with other people, not eating with your fingers, being mindful when you do eat out, and take all reported cases of stomach upset or other issues as potential transmission situations.
I've had it once. Once is more than enough. I was doing a movie night with a friend, and we were passing a package of blueberries back-and-forth. He casually informed me, after we had started snacking, that people in his office had been coming down with it. He said he was fine.
Guess what? The next day he was sick as a dog. I dropped Gatorade off on his porch. Guess what after that? The day after that, I was sick as a dog. I had to have my neighbor go down into town to get me some electrolyte fluid and leave it on my porch. I slept, intermittently, in my bathroom for over 36 hours, alternating sleep, sitting on the toilet, and trying to warm myself up in the bathtub. Chills and fever were a major part, along with lots and lots of toilet time.
It is no laughing matter. It is a poopfest like you've never had before, and some people get uncontrolled puking as well.
(TL;DR: Just assume that there are poo particles on most everything when you're out and about right now, especially around food, and adjust how you move in the world accordingly.)
