NEW REVIEW: Cabernet delivers a refreshingly thoughtful take on vampire fiction, focusing on the psychological toll of immortality rather than just the power fantasy.
With excellent voice acting (including Brian David Gilbert!), meaningful choices, and Victorian atmosphere thick enough to cut with fangs, it's a standout in narrative gaming.
4/5 Waffles - Worth sinking your teeth into.

My latest gaming review dives into the chaotic kitchen of Cook Serve Delicious 2, where rebuilding your restaurant empire requires the reflexes of a ninja and the patience of a saint. From perfectly timed pretzel flips to inexplicably cleaning toilets mid-service, this game serves stress with a side of satisfaction.

I also beat #FactorioSpaceAge
231h (including previous games)
4/5 - Loved it
I played a lot of Factorio including a mod I liked that revamped the core balance and recipes of the game + added cheaper but worse bots early game, etc. It added things but still mostly felt the same
I learned before buying the DLC that it started off as a mod (or multiple, not sure). So I thought the DLC would probably mostly just add QoL or alternative equipments and feel like a tacked on mod. Something I'd enjoy playing with as we launch our first rocket but wouldn't fundamentally change the experience.
Wow was I wrong.
---
First, the DLC does not kick in until *after* you launched your first rocket:
Which kind of sucks tbh. I had already logged in enough hours (for me) in Factorio and I wanted to get to the new stuff asap.
Replaying through what felt like mostly the same again felt like a chore (Though thankfully making rockets is a lot more trivial than it used to be)
---
When you do have a rocket though wow the DLC delivers:
> Each planet has a different puzzle to solve (which I don't want to spoil)
The tried and true methods of conquering your home world Nauvis are just plain not applicable to them. Each have a different and sometimes not even self sufficient tech tree to unravel and nurture
We were excited with solving each planet one at a time before checking out the next one and accidentally getting stranded a few times.
I even ended up playing in creative mode for the first time so I could blueprint a (largely insufficient but good enough) solution to the planet we least wanted to deal with
The biggest highlight for me was figuring out space station travel in a glorious series of catastrophic, wasteful and deadly but oh so instructive failures as if I was both engineer and passenger of Kerbal Space Program
------
It felt like playing a proper, meaningful expansion, almost a series of delightful, small but interconnected prequels, well worth the time and money.
Finally beat #satisfactory (107h)
3/5
I liked it a lot but I expected more after playing it to death during early access
The early and mid game are great but the late game gets rough with little payoff.
I loved exploring for random hard drives despite us barely ever using their alternate recipes. I just really like the minecraft feeling of walking home hoping nothing randomly kills you while your pants are full of things that are hard to come by.
I loved the early game, unlocking meaningful equipment, new tools for you to interact or go out and explore and feel the tech progression on a personal level (Exoskeleton, Parachute, Jetpack, full auto gun, gas mask, cars, trains, etc)
But felt like the late game had too little on that front. Mostly harder recipes and vertical scaling options
Also, something I really liked was you are accompanied by a narrator (unlike Factorio). Each milestone is greeted by Glados-like backhanded compliments. It makes you curious what is the robot's goal but the ending falls flat with very little narrative payoff.
The game ends on a mostly expected and almost insultingly inconsequential outcome.
Overall my time with Satisfactory was... Satisfactory I guess
Just spent two hours exploring Chasm, a gorgeous but unforgiving Metroidvania that left me with mixed feelings. Beautiful pixel art and atmospheric music, but combat mechanics might test your patience. Full review breaks down why it earned 2.5/5 waffles!

So do any Keymailer/terminals/etc "reviewer keys" sites work and have even slightly okay coverage these days? I mean terminals is fine but only for keys from that one publisher, keymailer seems to be lowest hanging fruit possible if that, and indie -> press outreach seems to have dropped to near zero post GDPR

The Spirit of the Samurai dazzles with stunning stop-motion visuals but falters in gameplay, leaving players frustrated with its combat mechanics. A mixed experience overall. #GamingNews #IndieGame #Steam #GameReview

[i0.wp.com][After a deadly virus nearly wipes out humanity, the remaining survivors struggle with adapting to the new unforgiving world. Survivors must hunt for limited resources, fend off against increasingly hostile wildlife, and cope with the loneliness of survival. James and his brother lived in isolation until they received a message about a settlement. James is weary of the invitation, but his brother rushes ahead without him, hoping this settlement means a fresh start for humanity.
Play as James as he ventures into the lonely world in search of his brother. What secrets will he uncover in the ruins of the old world? Will he be able to find his brother, or will they become another casualty in this cruel apocalypse?
Once Alive is effectively a first person simulator. As James, players explore the abandoned village of HaustVille, looking for clues about what happened to its citizens. As players explore the village, they collect written notes, sit through memories of past residents, and piece together the strange and ominous narrative. The game does have a few quick time events to keep players on their toes. The game also offers enough bread crumbs to keep players on track. It takes about two hours to complete Once Alive, but you can do it quicker if you don’t explore every nook and cranny like I did.
Once Alive [store.steampowered.com] is the most impressive narrative game I’ve played all year, but it does have its issues. The animation in this game can be wonky at times. I noticed a few stutters during some pans and the talking animation looks scary. The writing has a few grammatical issues and a few times where the wrong word is used. There are also bits of exposition that are too on the nose. That said, this game is fantastic, and you should play through it at least once.
While there are issues with the animation at times, you’re mostly walking through a very cool isolated village. The developer does a phenomenal job of building a world worth exploring full of fantastic flavor. While the writing isn’t perfect, I love the attention to detail and general story beats that had me at the edge of my seat. I loved reading some random note in a house and then having it pop up in a natural way later in the story.
Once Alive [store.steampowered.com] is a fantastic horror game that effectively uses its world-building to create an ominous atmosphere. It is the sense of isolation and mystery that propels the player through the story, and it is powerful storytelling that makes this a great game. If you’re looking for a good horror game, Once Alive is a short one you need to have in your library. It is an impressive project by a clearly passionate developer that deserves a lot more attention.
You can pick up Once Alive on Steam for $11.99.
