Hosta Buds and Blooms by Debra Martz
They spring forth so brilliantly green in April and bud in May but it is all downhill after the heat of the Oklahoma summer knocks on the door! They never make it to be large plants filled with many stems of flowers. But I enjoy watching them grow under the canopy of my Cypress, cut them to the ground when they wilt in late June, and wait for their return next Spring.

On the pathway leading to the visitor's center, numerous plants were just beginning to sprout buds. When fully flowered, these clusters of blooms resemble lilac or wisteria when observed from a distance.
