@kkarhan@infosec.space@bohwaz @punkfairie @ajsadauskas @JessTheUnstill @tomiahonen That's exactly the problem, cuz #KaiOS nee #FirefoxOS was a good and solid basis not just for #LowEnd-Devices but could've been excellent for a more #secure mobile OS, as it has good potential for #sandboxing and #KISS-principle'd #Apps that are lean and efficient.
But then again when enthusiasts like @fuchsiii and I were shouting "#ShutUpAndTakeMyMoney!" to #Mozilla, they basically refused to sell any #device, and then we get the "#PSvita-Effect":

Personally I believe the @europarl_en & @EUCommission could do that and establish as well as enforce an #EC #norm, just as they did with #USBc, #CCS2 and #GDPR!
- It's just lack of political #pressure and #will to actually deal with the #AntiCompetitive-ness of #GAFAMs and given #Microsoft got forced into the #BrowserChoice setup in #WindowsXP & #Windows7, I demand the same for #iOS, #macOS and #Windows11 to include not only #Firefox & #Chrome but also #TorBrowser!
#Android needs to be better as in being more than just the "lesser evil" compared to iOS!
@kkarhan@infosec.space@ajsadauskas @JessTheUnstill also #BlackBerry's #PlayBook #Tablet was released as a accessory screen for their Phones, which gave it "#WiiU-Effect" in terms of marketing.
- Plus #RIM relying hard on business clients and their proprietary applianced mail systems and having big carriers upsell to business people made them look outdated & quite literally out of touch once #iPhone went mainstream.
I mean, the hardware was never their problem and #SMS-Typists swear by their #BlackberryCurve's #keyboard but BlackBerry's #toolchain - just like #SymbianOS's - was just hideous to the point that devs like @fuchsiii didn't even want to try making #Apps for those devices.
- Unlike #Mozilla fucking up #FirefoxOS by refusing to sell devices to #developers, by the time RIM & #Nokia came from their high horses, their market shares had been squeezed into mere "rounding errors" by #iOS and #Android as it was way cheaper and easier to get #Apps developed, tested, sold, bought and use them than on their devices.
#Sony even released some #Symbian #S60 devices but since they didn't have the same signing keys, one couldn't even #sideload apps (not to mention they didn't had the #OviStore on those either!)...

Espechally #seniors who have trouble seeing do enjoy the fact that most #Android #Apps are just heing displayed bigger and they have less trouble using any on-screen keyboard.
Plus they may already have gotten their hearing aid or audio setup connected to said tablet for media consumption so it's less fiddly for them!

The project management tool Height.app is shutting down, which is a real bummer - our company was one of the early adopters and we have used it for years. Height had one of the best designs I've ever seen, and I had high hopes for it.
This is a reminder that any service can be shut down at any moment, with no safeguards in place. It's also a reminder of the power of open source - something we don't have in this case.
I have a lot of requirements for a project management tool - most notably a solid API, linkable tasks with task IDs, and a good user interface. After this experience, I'd prefer something open source. Maybe Plane.so, looks very similar to Height.app?
Any solid alternatives to tools like Jira, ClickUp, Height, or Favro? I'm open to suggestions.

Saturday tip for our Android users:
When you move the Tab and Address Bars to the bottom, the Navigation Bar disappears and you have more screen space. If you prefer to keep the Tab and Address Bars on top there’s still a way to hide the Navigation Bar.
To hide it:
Settings > Appearance & Theme > Disable “Show Navigation Bar”.
When hidden, the Tab Switcher button is moved to the Address Bar and other features are available from the main Vivaldi menu.
