Excited and also super fucking nervous to kick off a new D&D campaign tomorrow.
I have big plans and I hope that I have not set expectations to a point where I find myself unable to meet them. I *know* I've gotten better since I started over a year ago, but I still have such a long ways to go.
Burnout and other brain fog stuff don't make it easy, as I struggle to remember rules and whatnots.
Hopefully we all have a good time.
Snow storm here today in the Valley. Glad I started some sourdough bagels last night. A house made warm by the oven and filled with the smell of fresh baking bread is a great way to spend a cold snowy day!
If I can shake this headache I might go in for some knitting.
Been having a hard time. And like I think many of us here who already struggle with cleaning and clutter, etc... my house has been sliding further and further away from a state that I'm comfortable existing in.
I didn't want to do it, but I set a timer for 30 min this morning, turned on the LOTR soundtrack and went after the kitchen/dining area. Priority was the floors so the Roomba and Brava could do their thing.
It won't fix the word. But... it helped me.
I washed, dried AND put away all of my laundry ON THE SAME DAY. I would like a parade now please.
I do really feel like this switch in desires says a lot about my journey through life.
Ivory towers, ageless beauty that no one can touch...
Gardens, food, excess, joy, community...
I know which I want my life to be about now. I understand Gandalf's musing on Hobbits in a deep way that I absolutely did not in my teens and 20s.
'If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.'
I had some leftover beer yesterday, and a really active sourdough starter...
So y'all know where this is going.
I really love Emilie Raffa's basic loaf. I chuck everything in my kitchen aid, give it a whirl. Rest 30 min. Another lil whirl. Then into a container to proof overnight.
Quick shape in the morning and into a banneton. Give it like an hour or two, slice the top and bung it into the dutch oven for 50 min with the lid on. Perfection
Tomorrow I WFH and I'm going to make enchiladas, with sauce from scratch.
I'm so excited. Never done it before, but I have a few recipes to riff off, and my friend who is Mexican has given me several tips (but no recipe cuz they learned how to do it via vibes, which is valid AF, lol).
