In Sichtweite meines Heimbüros wollen zwei #Elstern zu Eltern werden. 💚 Sie schleppen Zweige von weither heran, um sie akribisch korrekt in ihr Kugelnest zu flechten. Gelegentlich paaren sie sich auf dem Nest, begutachten es dann von oben nochmal genau und fliegen wieder neue Zweige sammeln.

Tiny Titan of the Forest

This morning, I spotted a tufted titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor). I'm not sure how many of these delightful little birds are around during the mornings, but sometimes I see several. Since they are not sexually dimorphic, distinguishing between males and females is something I haven't been able to do.

Killdeer nest on the ground, and when predators approach, the adult pretends to have a broken wing, moves away from the nest and makes pathetic cries, hoping to lure the would-be attacker into chasing them instead of the young.
