Had a right game with getting VMs to work on Bazzite with virt-manager. Keeps rejecting any ISO I have. Did all sorts of permission thiongs. Thankfully GNOME Boxes does a good job.
(not asking for help, just ranting.)

@chawopro Oh, you might as well just dive in head first and try #bazzite , if gaming is your jam.

So something I wasn’t expecting I’d be doing tonight. I wanted to sit down and play some Satisfactory on my ROG Ally and chill. Instead, I’ve just had to reinstall Bazzite.
I haven’t been able to update it for ages for whatever reason (it kept saying “An error was encountered during the update process, please try again”), so I was considering rebuilding it anyway, but I got bunch of errors randomly and had to reboot every time, so I just decided to do it now anyway.
I’m going away next week so didn’t want it to mess up whilst on holiday where there would be nothing I could do about it.
Anyway, now it’s reinstalled, the SteamOS elements on screen look really zoomed in and there doesn’t seem to be a way to natively change the resolution and/or zoom in the settings. Not sure if it’s meant to be this way or not.
Anyone else experienced this?
@itsfoss I tried #Bazzite, was not for me, so I switched back to #EndeavourOS
Thanks to the amazing developers working on #Bazzite (https://bazzite.gg/), one more #Windows11 user got vastly improved hardware performance by ditching #microsoft completely.

For users who want to try Linux, I recommend this: Do not listen to people who tell you to use Ubuntu, Linux Mint or other variants. They all use the same complex and often breaking mechanisms, and can cause a lot of hassle.
Instead, I recommend these systems:
- #Fedora #AtomicDesktops
- #UniversalBlue #Aurora #Bluefin #Bazzite
- #HeliumOS
Looking forward to #SerpentOS too!
These systems are reliable like an Android phone, while offering you more freedom.
Had an awesome time talking about #bazzite on Linux Saloon!
Looks like there's a similar ujust runner for #bazzite like the #bluefin cli tool group: https://docs.bazzite.gg/Advanced/bazzite-cli/
Handy!
I just miss this stuff when I'm futzing around on a server but I suppose the
CLOUD NATIVE
response would be "why would you ever log into a server you absolute wet wipe?
i got tired of hearing about how great linux gaming is outside of steamdeck so i got a 4TB NVME drive (Crucial is very affordable at that capacity and I can't use 2TB anymore) and i pulled my win11 disks that use bitlocker, and swapped out a SATA SSD i can cable up inside the enclosure and moved a lower cap one to a little ventilated 2.5mm SATA JBOD i use. \o/
so i am installing #bazzite with nvidia flavored KDE. if it works for my needs i'll start newfsing everything to #zfs

Been fighting with a weird bug / issue in Bazzite, and (knocking on wood) I think I may have finally figured out what triggers it?
For the months now, I would have an issue (at least daily) where my center monitor stops updating the picture. If I don't resolve the issue (typically by ctrl+alting to a diff session and then back) quickly enough, eventually the remaining screens would stop updating, and the entire system would hang.
This problem seemed to get worse when I tried using Floorp for my browser, so on a whim I've tried going back to a diff browser as my daily driver - and specifically using Vivaldi (Chromium based) for my always-running-twitch-stream.
And so far, the issue hasn't resurfaced...? Again, knocking on wood?
Like I'll be truly happy if that issue is resolved with this, but am going to be very irate if there's just some weird intersection of firefox fork / nvidia drivers / video streaming / bazzite that I discovered, causing this hang. :/
Bazzite [bazzite.gg] is a custom Fedora Atomic [fedoraproject.org] image built with cloud native [universal-blue.org] technology that brings the best of Linux gaming to all of your devices - including your favorite handheld.
Bootc as a project is one with tons of promise and lots of community support. It's what is powering the next generation of Atomic Desktops, CoreOS, and Fedora IoT, not to mention all of the work that @UniversalBlue has done to show off everything that can be done today.
If you want to follow bootc more closely, regular updates from Fedora's end are shared here. :)
ScopeBuddy (https://github.com/HikariKnight/ScopeBuddy) is now in #Bazzite stable, this lets you use "scb -- %command%" or "scopebuddy -- %command%" to let scopebuddy manage env vars, gamescope args and game launch options using config files.
It also fixes the Steam Overlay and SteamInput when using gamescope on the desktop and also works inside gamemode!
Usage and Docs here: https://docs.bazzite.gg/Advanced/scopebuddy/
Bazzite Linux announced two new editions designed for game developers https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2025/03/bazzite-linux-announced-two-new-editions-designed-for-game-developers/
Bazzite, the Fedora-based gaming-focused Linux distro, will have developer-oriented editions—DX and GDX, the latter being game development-focused—and will apparently include Godot as well!

Looks like someone made a #bazzite developer mode. Awesome work, people have been asking for this but no one was stepping up.
Now someone just made a thing people can try for themselves, excellent.
