Went out to the Hands Off protest today in Santa Cruz. I heard rumors that it's the largest protest in Santa Cruz ever. They announced there were 8,000 people there.
There was lots of good signage. I got interviewed by the local paper.
The sign in the picture is hard to read at this angle but it says, "Dear Canada, We Hate Him Too!"

But we don’t live there anymore. We live in a country where the fed govt allies itself w/Russian & South American #dictators while taking sides against #democratic #allies. A country that threatens its neighbors w/annexation. A country that views the #GenevaConventions as namby-pamby suggestions that only apply to suckers & losers. A country that uses #SecretPolice.

Now that #Trump has installed election deniers throughout his Admin, he’s been busy dismantling guardrails protecting voting & voters.
It’s a tossup which of Trump’s wrecking balls will prove most destructive: the one that accelerates #GlobalWarming, the one that abandons our #allies, the one that torches the #economy, or the one that compromises #PublicHealth. Yet these are distractions from his long-standing project: decimating free & fair elections.

Acc/to NATO’s most recent stats, last year 23 #NATO members’ #defense spending exceeded 2% of their GDP. 5 of those nations — #Estonia, #Greece, #Latvia, #Poland & the #US — spent >3%. Poland had the highest percentage, dedicating 4.12% of its GDP to defense.
The potential shift in how the US participates in NATO comes as #Trump is pushing European #allies to do more to #aid #Ukraine in its #war w/ #Russia & to play a major role in maintaining #peace if a deal to end the war is reached.
#Trump is also considering a policy change in which the #US may prioritize #military exercises w/ #NATO members that are spending the set percentage of their GDPs on #defense. He has already signaled to America’s European #allies that the US could reduce its military presence in #Europe, & one option under consideration is to reposition US troops in the region so they are in or around NATO countries that have scaled up defense spending to meet the specific percentage of their GDPs.
