1/ Dear white people, if you are *not* checking in on your black and brown friends in the wake of the election and prefer to keep your collective heads in the sand, your friends might be better friends to YOU than you are to THEM.
Being able to opt out of difficult conversations about race is a level of privilege that your friends simply don't have. Peace and quiet are two vastly different things. Silence is NOT golden.
tl;dr: White people can't season their food worth a shit, so when the first bit of flavor came into our lives, we got into that shit like it was fent.
Saying "go on son" whilst watching some kinda sports is peak white culture right there.
It is not the job of #black #brown, & #Indigenous, #disenfranchised people to educate white people upon the Injustices of #settler #colonial societies. We #whitepeople must decide that it is important for us to educate ourselves on the truth of how countries like #America were founded, and we must move beyond our pathetic Self pity and hurt egos, damaged emotions to become authentic allies. We must further , take our instructions from those groups with whom we ally ourselves. We are not there to make commands and decisions. We are there to follow and support. Further still, we must be very vigilant not to become the path by which a group is infiltrated. #COINTELPRO is not dead. It has been reimagined and transformed into a new beast.
Petitioners in rural Ohio tried to get support to raise the minimum wage which WILL HELP POOR WHITE PEOPLE, mind you, and got harassed out of several counties because they had Black people working with them.
