Established in 1918, it is one of the island's oldest forest reserves, dedicated to preserving diverse ecosystems, including mangrove forests, limestone cliffs, and coastal areas. ​ The forest is renowned for its rich biodiversity. It encompasses various marine biomes such as coral reefs and seagrass meadows, which are crucial habitats for species like the West Indian manatee. All four species of mangroves found in Puerto Rico thrive here, alongside plant species like the bullet tree, greenheart, and sea grape. Notably, the forest provides sanctuary to endangered species, including the black cóbana and the critically endangered bariaco. The beaches within the forest serve as vital nesting sites for leatherback, hawksbill, and green sea turtles. More of my favorite buildings around the NC Renaissance Festival. The fourth photo is a Pumpkin Ale by Foothills Brewing, one of my favorites to drink during the autumn season. Make sure you bring cash as the drink vendors do not take credit or debit! Also, make sure you stop by the chimney rolls vendor. There is always a long line, but the chimney rolls are definitely worth it! Plus, it's fun watching the pastries being prepared! Shot in November 2024.
