Love this performance from this year’s Grammys. I had bought Tracy‘s album when it came out in 1988, and this powerful song has stayed with me ever since.
And don't forget Tracy Chapman's performance of "Hound Dog" at the Kennedy Center Honors (2012), a Buddy Guy Tribute

If you're going through a personal #TracyChapman revival, as you should, don't sleep on "All That You Have is Your Soul." Chapman's wisdom is both timeless and like a specific medicine for a specific illness of our time. https://youtu.be/trVCbDpmIH0?si=gSThG_57LtHcV_64
This moment gave me all the feels

FYI, #Combs did NOT ask #TracyChapman's permission to use her song. He used what is called a "compulsory mechanical license" - a time-consuming legal process to evade getting permission directly from the artist herself. It prohibits him altering her lyrics.
TC had consistently denied permission to use her work for covers or samples. Ofc she is going to put a good face on it once he "took first, asked forgiveness later."
Country music is just folk music w/Black people shut out
Tracy Chapman, who has not played in public in years, performs "Fast Car" with Luke Combs at the Grammys
Iconic. A word that feels overused these days. But, #TracyChapman is exactly that; so happy to see her at the #GrammyAwards
#BestOf2024 Instead of waiting for December 2024, scrambling to remember all the good things, all the things that made me happy in 2024, I will try to acknowledge these little moments of happiness as they arise. #SilentSunday with #music
#TracyChapman is, and always has been, *everything.* #Grammys can be over for the year now.
Tracy Chapman has made history as the first Black woman to have a sole writing credit on a number-one U.S. country song. Luke Combs' cover of "Fast Car," which was originally recorded in 1988, reached the top of Billboard's Country Airplay chart on Monday afternoon. Here's a look at the history of "Fast Car," which Rolling Stone recently ranked at 71st in the 500 greatest songs of all time.
