About #PeerTube : what do I need to know as a newbie that never heard of it before?
- can I post my videos like I did on yt?
- will the chosen server has an impact on the uploading process or video quality outcome?
- which server/instance is the one with best reputation?
- can I search for anything I want (I'll figure this one out on my own lol)
- are there follower like p.e. in mastodon or yt itself? Will I have a peertube-channel?
- is anyone using it as a #tiktokrefugee or is it all about longer vids?

@codinghorror I'm actively making videos on TikTok to point people to use Mastodon.
The recent #tiktok ban woke up something in the people. It showed them that having centralized social media be your outlet. Is not a good idea.
Decentralized platforms are the future.
I am curious how sustainable the model of depending on donations from users to keep a server up and running is going to be.
So, we finally resolved our technical issue...and now have our account here up and running! Thanks to everyone who helped to make it happen. #TikTokRefugee Who else is over here? 
This was a challenge coin storage box and display I got to make for a customer. She made the logo for her firefighter husband, and was so excited to have this made before Christmas.

Anyone here migrating from TikTok, my piece of advice is to not let anyone here try to tether you here.
The Fediverse is different and is not really a replacement for large social platforms, and the decentralisation and fact that instances can be run by anyone does come at its own costs with regards to management and trust & safety.
If you think you can cope, cool! But if that's not your thing, I'd suggest Bluesky. And if anything, use the whole TikTok drama to explore a bit - not just this network but other places. Don't put your eggs in one basket, even if the basket federates.
Simple guide to ditch big tech:
- For FB Messenger, texting & calling, & WhatsApp, use Signal (VERY IMPORTANT!)
- For email, use Proton Mail
- For TikTok, use Loops (once it’s ready!!!) Rednote also very acceptable! 
- For X & FB, use Mastodon
- For Insta, use Pixelfed
- Use a web browser that lets you install Ublock Origin addon such as “Orion” for macOS and iOS, Firefox on PC
- Use Fedora not Windows for PC (easy+ quality + no spyware)
