While I like using @kagihq, I wonder a bit about the underlying mechanics.
Initially, my impression was that they had their own search index. I implemented SEO on my project, Recordfy, and now I see my results on Google. I can also see in the logs how the Google crawler moves through the sitemap entries.
Now, all of a sudden, my search entries appear on Kagi as well. So, are they just an aggregator like @duckduckgo?

Just kidding, it doesn't affect my reach at all because Facebook consistently showed posts, even ones with hashtags, call to action, pictures, the works, to less than 20 people out of 5000.

Latest AI search report from Brightedge indicates that Google is expanding *and* getting better at AI Overviews. Perplexity gets pinged for having recency problems, which isn't good news for them. Szapi has done significant research in the past into a #malware family called #Gootloader that (for years, now) uses malicious #SEO techniques to promote compromised websites into Google search results.
This research finally cracks wide open the mystery of how they manage to do that so effectively. It's a long read, but well worth the deep dive.

Open question for other website operators + #SEO experts. Google has decided my site name should be “cybercultural.com” despite me doing everything in my power (i.e. meta tags & Google’s own structured data suggestions) to make the site name “Cybercultural” in its search and Discover results. I think this is affecting both my search and Discover clickthroughs (which in turn means not even getting on Discover most of the time). Anyone have suggestions on how to get Google to change my site name?

Ich habe eine Open Source Webseite für einen jährlichen 24h Charity Stream programmiert, in welcher einfach nur ein paar Diagramme sind, die festhalten, wie die Spendensumme im Verlauf des Streams war, sowie einzelne andere interessante Infos.
Und die Seite ist, wenn man nach dem Stream auf Google sucht, auf Platz 1.
Ohne SEO Slop oder ähnliches. Die Beschreibung in Google zeigt nicht mal die richtige Beschreibung, die ich im Head angegeben habe, an...
Mich überrascht das dann doch etwas. Ich dachte, das sei heutzutage komplett unmöglich, vernünftige Infos auf Platz 1 in Google zu bekommen.

Ich denke das ist ein Schritt in die richtige Richtung. Klar, man wird nie alles an Slop besiegen, aber man kann zumindest sich bemühen, gute Sachen ins Internet zu stellen. Anscheinend bringt das ja irgendwie etwas.
