Did you know that the concept of "OS-tan" has existed way before even ME-tan was made?
Take OS Idol Win-chan as an example. Win-chan's earliest appearance in media seems to be from a promotional CD by Enterbrain, which dates back as early as October 1998. This would mean that Win-chan predates Me-tan by almost 5 years. It's not specified what Windows version she represents.
Another example can be Magical Toko-chan who is from around 1999. She seems to represent BSD, has a theme song called "Rainbow Holy☆Trident" and has a sister that represents Solaris.
There is also also another "Wintel Miku" although there’s little art of her. She seems to represent WindowsNT4.0/95/98 and was created as the creator was inspired by Mgaical Toko.
Besides Win-Chan, Magical Toko, Solaris-Chan and Wintel Miku all have sites dedicared to them!

Published a minor update to my OS-tan "fanon" wiki with a new section on other minor characters. Unlike the other misc characters page this is one uses a different layout with dropdown boxes, and is for characters who in theory do exist which is a fair few but do not have enough information to give them a distinct page, or are getting reworked...

Got bored and attempted to create all my iPhone-tans the best I could in Gacha Life 2. Ignoring all the weird stuff with Gacha Life I think it’s good enough to get basic ideas.

This one is of the Windows 3.1-kun!
3.1-kun is a man wearing a "3.1" medal on his right side and green uniform for the military from the Meiji era. He is seen as the older brother of NT-Mama, the uncle of 95-tan, and the younger brother of 1.0-tan and 3.1-tan. He has an elderly voice when he speaks. He has a DOS companion, just like his -tan counterpart, although his is a humanoid rather than a cat.
He retired with KanjiTalk 7.5-tan after the OS battles. Though he doesn't often appear, he would occasionally test his strength against 2K-kun and XP Pro-kun. Since 3.1-kun isn't shown off much in the fandom, little is known about him or his character. Since he doesn't antagonize other OSes, it's likely that he's retired comfortably or that his years of combat have left him with knowledge that longs for peace.
Decided to do a minor update to MS-DOS-kun's page to address an annoying misconception about MS-DOS's release date that I noticed *all* other MS-DOS OS-tans have. It seems that people mistake the first version of MS-DOS being released in 1981 due to the Wikipedia article, but the MS-DOS name didn't come until Microsoft did their first OEM release to the computer clone makers which was version 1.25 and released in April 1982.
While BetaWiki still has 1981, this is for the unreleased internal release named MS-DOS 1.20 and not the first public release. The source the Wikipedia entry for MS-DOS's release date for it goes to a site that is a brief history of MS-DOS and is going by the release date for the IBM PC, which is August 1981.
However, The MS DOS Encyclopedia, BetaWiki and 16BitOS say otherwise to Wikipedia and use 1982 as the release date. The attached image even shows the MS-DOS name didn't come until 1982 and it was PC DOS that came first as per The MS DOS Encyclopedia, which is published by Microsoft Press. Microsoft Press is the publishing arm of Microsoft, usually releasing books dealing with various current Microsoft technologies so it would be weird to say the book is false...
Hell, even the first version of PC DOS that came with the IBM PC has 1981 on the BetaWiki for the release unlike the first public version of MS-DOS.
This is why I always dig hard when making characters because people will skim over Wikipedia and not check other sources

Oh, and with PC-DOS starting out as a re-branded MS-DOS it could be presumed that PC-DOS 2.0 has those UNIX commands as well.
It was only after MS and IBM ended their partnership during 1992(?) that they became significantly different

As with Windows 1.0 and the Windows 1.0 BYTE magazine demo, I won't make this a separate character like this other user did but rather a separate attire and design for 1.0.
As you can see on the left is the BYTE magazine demo whereas on the right is the first release of Windows 1.0. They have very different GUIs as the demo's interface is very similar to Microsoft's DOS applications such as Word and Multiplan, which were also released or in development at the time, featuring a command bar at the bottom of the screen and overlapping windows (the latter of which was replaced by tiling windows) unlike the retail version's usual GUI

With the fixes and updates I have been doing to my OS-tan universe seeing someone make a separate character for the Windows 1.0 BYTE magazine demo reminded me of XEDOS and I decided to update MS-DOS-kun's page to address this as UNIX spells he was taught by XENIX. I actually knew of XEDOS prior to doing these changes but remembered it after a while when I forgot about it. For those who don't know, MS-DOS 2.x had a few undocumented Unix-compatible commands built-in that were originally intended to be a part of Microsoft's XEDOS.
XEDOS was going to be Microsoft's 1981 Unix offering for the IBM PC that fitted somewhere between its single-user MS-DOS and its multiuser Xenix, but was never released. Note that these commands were removed from later versions of MS-DOS such as 3.0 and onwards.

This one is of Windows 1.0-tan!
She is one of the lesser known OS-tans and is depicted as the matriarch of the Windows-tans, and the sister and friend of 3.1-tan. Her hobbies are origami and Reversi. These hobbies are derived from the inability to stack windows on top of each other in Windows 1.0, so the windows were arranged like origami papers, and Reversi was commonly featured in screenshots of Windows 1.0.
She normally wears a kimono, but 3.1-tan has sometimes forced her to wear strange outfits. Her favorite food is tsubuan (red bean paste) yokan.
Being born in the Showa period, as per Windows 1.0's release date, she has a retro, old-fashioned mindset and is profoundly nostalgic. She is usually confused by the gap between past and present.
When she is angered, she can produce laser beams from her eyes.

This one is of Windows 95-tan!
Her kimono pattern is based on the "Hanami" wallpaper, which was included in the exclusive CD-ROM releases of Windows 95 in Japan, named "hana256.bmp". 95-tan also wears an iconic four-colored ribbon on the back of her hair, which were the colors of the Windows logo.
95-tan is considered one of the more stable OS-tans, but she is sometimes depicted wielding a katana aggressively towards Mac-tans, as well as troublemakers within her own family. This is symbolic of Microsoft's complete domination of the personal computer industry with the release of Windows 95, which led to her aggressive demeanor during the OS Wars. At that time, she actively fought against Mac-tans, including her old enemy Kapone

This one is of Windows 95 OSR 2.1-tan and Windows 95 OSR 2.5-tan!
Both of these are extremely obscure characters whom have only been mentioned in a 4-Koma series which is mainly referred to as the 95OSR 2.5-tan 4Koma, due to it being the 4-panel series that the semi-canon character 95 OSR 2.5-tan debuted in and a 95 OSR 2.1-tan was mentioned by name.
OSR 2.1-tan is a sci-fi geek who is more interested in the future than the present; in fact, she brought USB compatibility to Windows, thinking it to be the way of the future. OSR 2.5-tan uses a Jutte, a sword-breaking device employed by law enforcement authorities during Japan's Edo Period. This was done to represent Microsoft Windows' transition from a tumultuous period to its era of domination and prosperity in the desktop industry, which began with Windows 98.

This one is a group picture featuring FreeBSD, NetBSD, DragonflyBSD and OpenBSD!
I won't describe all the characters due to the word limit here but FreeBSD-tan, the second eldest of the BSD-tans, is a dynamic leader known for her spontaneity and love of adventure. Despite her laid-back demeanor, she completes tasks efficiently and on time. NetBSD-tan, her younger sister, is depicted as timid but with an adventurous side, reflecting the portability of NetBSD. FreeBSD-tan is depicted as a tall woman with blonde spiky hair and purple eyes, wearing punk-inspired clothing. Her weapon of choice is a nightstick.
DragonflyBSD is the one only without info for her character, so that can be left up to interpretation?

I guess it is time for me to do an #introduction here. This is an account by @SinclairSpeccy mainly for my personal worldbuilding projects due to the larger word count here and my main instance being a tech themed one. This account name is taken from my site to make things easier.
On this account you will find me posting about my main 4 worldbuilding projects which are the following:
Guardians of the School: Perhaps a bit of a generic name for this worldbuilding project, it focuses on the real world with a hint of fiction about a protagonist named Yuriko who is a teenage girl whose life changes when she gets thrown into turmoil by some mystical entities called "Guardians of the School".
Time Goes By: More of a space themed thing inspired by a flash game I used to play a lot in my youth called Plazma Burst 2. Same as Guardians of the School, it focuses on the real world with a hint of fiction about a protagonist named Quiv who is stuck on Earth after most people left to Mars the rest of the galaxy until he gets into a fight with someone in an abandoned spaceship that launches him and this other person into space. Yes, it sort of takes cues from Star Wars and such.
Termination of Dusk: Originally known as "Warrior Dragons", it is one of the first of my projects I started when I was younger from around 2017. Has mostly been sitting in the dust as I grew out of it. Years later I sorta picked up on it again but not much. It focuses on a fantasy setting with elemental powers.
The Mainframe - An OS-tan Fanon: My OS-tan fanon/universe that used to be hosted elsewhere that was then moved over to be hosted on my site for more flexibility. It is a fanon that aims to be free of glurge while including more male characters and redundant OSes/computers. Shares the same name as the main site (how creative of me :P).
I'll most likely be posting about my OS-tan universe since that is the one I am hyper-fixating on 99% of the time. I'm not much of an artist either but rather a writer of sorts, and these are projects done for fun. I am also to do an introduction for my OS-tan universe later to move it over to this account from my main which ended up being a 10 post thread...
The profile picture and banner will be changed eventually to suit this account more as these were ones I already had at the time on hand
To sort of finish this off, the universe in this current state is a WIP. It's a small project for the sake of satisfying a hyperfixation of mine, so it's not intended to be worked on 24/7. I could mention more but this is more of a basic overview I guess.
Nowadays I am trying to make new characters for OSes and hardware that already have characters so that they sympathise with me more but also somewhat ditch the moe in moe anthropomorphism since it feels rather restrictive.

It slowly started to focus towards other computers who did not have characters yet.
You see, a character for the GENIAC toy computer existed but there was no character for the Simon computer, a relay-based computer described by Edmund Berkeley in a series of thirteen construction articles in Radio-Electronics magazine. Both computers were from Edmund Berkeley so why was one made but the other ignored?
The same could sort of be asked for other microcomputers like the MikroMikko & other models of the MikroMikko and Motorola EXORciser & EXORmacs, the characters for them being Mikko Idestam and "Martina's maid". At the time the only main wiki for OS-tans seemed to focus on notable computers and not the lesser known ones. I wanted to change that.

The creation of Jasper would lead to the creation of other iPhone-tans such as Bursa, my iPhone character that represents all the iPhone 6 models to iOSes such as Tamika who is flashy and represents iOS 7 which took a turn from what iOS 6 had.
It also paved the way for other mobile characters such as Martina for the Motorola DynaTAC and Kestävä for the Nokia 3310 who is strong due to the phone's reputation.

All of these previous efforts of the past are what led to the current version of it today. A notable charatcer, if not the face of the universe in a way, is Jasper Ive. She was the first fully fleshed out character I made at the time, dating back to exactly August 21, 2019. The artwork of her is attached to this post.
She's a result of me wanting to be part of the fandom but also looking at what existed at the time and seeing no one focused on the modern changes of society. I mean, almost everyone nowadays has a phone so it made me wonder at the time "Why are there no iPhones, or mobile devices?"
