Liberals attacking Jagmeet is how they once used to hope to get a majority.
They should stop this year. Its ugly, and kinda racist. And not necessary.
Carney isnt fighting the healthcare demands that Jagmeet forced Trudeau into, in fact, Carney cited NDP Dental Care and Pharma Care as "intrinsic to who Canada is" and even EXPANDED dental care, two days ago.
It is beginning to feel a lot like a Pearson / Tommy Douglas time of year.
@chris@mstdn.chrisalemany.caOoof... and on cue a Mainstreet poll just came in, and it set a new low for the NDP at 7%. The Liberals gain from both the CPC and NDP. It's hard to imagine Nanos, when they come in this week, will not show something lower than the 16% they had.
That's a punch in the gut for the NDP but these are all still pre-election call polling so there is opportunity for recovery.

The party bottomed out at 8% in a Mainstreet (A+) poll twelve days ago just after Carney was picked as Liberal leader but two days later a Nanos (A) poll had them at 16%. That is a huge discrepancy.
The NDP got 15.98% (25 seats) in the 2021 election.
Most recently Ipsos (A) and Abacus (A-) have the NDP at 10% on the 16th and 12% on the 19th.
Mainstreet and Nanos will have new polls this week. If the numbers continue in the 10-15% range, then the doom and gloom which the media is amplifying should dissipate.
It is also worth remembering that the Liberals and Conservatives got 33% and 34% vote share respectively last election.

The #cpc have no candidates listed. Only messages from Dear Leader, and it’s sparse. Mostly just his transcribed words. The ironic part is I have seen door hangers for the CPC candidate in my riding, but no idea what his name is. If it is anything like the provincial election, I expect MASSIVE CPC signage in my riding. It didn’t work provincially… we’ll see what happens now.
The #LPC have many candidates listed and ready, lots of content. No one mentioned for my riding. (They are not generally a contender)
The #NDP has almost all candidates listed but ironically, not mine even though I just received a sign, but the site is ready with similarly lots of content.
The #GPC has only a handful of candidates, but our local candidate @chrismarkevich is listed.
With such an incredibly short campaign there will not be much time for parties to fill out the details. No doubt everyone will be hyper focused on GOTV efforts. Advance voting will begin in just a couple weeks!

That said, the Liberals have to be *very* happy with this as it stands. It could still improve for them but the #CPC are not far off. Well within possibility of forming government.
172 seats is needed for a majority.
Huge news this morning. The federal government has announced the final phase of the NDP Canada Dental Care Plan, which my NDP colleagues and I fought so hard for. As of May, the plan will cover ALL Canadians who don’t have insurance and whose household income after taxes is less than $90,000.
The NDP gained seats in the last provincial election, if one were held today I'd wager dollars to donuts they'd win hands down.

Both of these parties are corporate apologists.

Great point from @jessebrown on #CanadaLand about the trade war and the upcoming federal election in #Canada: regardless of whether you're a #LPC, #NDP, #CPC, or #BlocQuebecois candidate, we don't want to see you spending a dime on electoral ads on Meta platforms or Elon's Nazi Xesspool, or, I would add, on any form of Google ad.
Additionally, I for one will be looking for Amazon packages outside candidates' riding offices; I hope to see none. Canada before candidate; Canada before party. Put your money where your mouth is, all of you, and don't give those fascist oligarchs another dime.
