Overpopulation is *not* the problem. World #population growth peaked in the 60s at 2.3% and has dropped to 0.9%. The planet can support the current population (8B) and the projected peak population (<11B). We need #socialism and world #peace, not #eugenics or #antinatalism. Humanity can and will exist sustainably on this planet.
Has the #FertilityRate in the #EuropeanUnion been stable over the past two decades?

I marked a couple things in the newspaper’s top story, because they illustrate the failing way of life that correlates with tRump voters.
Of the 27 school districts in South Central Iowa, just 3 have more students now than five years ago. I taught in 2 of them: Clarke and Lenox. They have 40% and 25% hispanic students respectively. (The statewide average is 5%.)
As I see it, tRump voters here would rather see their schools fail than to embrace immigrants.

Between 12% and 14% of the #US #population is #noncitizens, which includes #Visa Holders, Legal Permenant Residents without #Citizenship, and #Undocumented / #UnauthorizedImmigrants / #IllegalImmigrants.
Only 3% to 4% of the #USpopulation is estimated to be here illegally. That means, even if every last one was #deported, it would at most be only a 3% or 4% reduction of people in the housing and job markets.
It would also mean a massive expansion of the ICE budget, as it was streamlined by every other administration going back to Reagan: any significant increase over Obama and Biden's massive #deportation numbers will have an increasing cost.
Remember that these people also pay #taxes, but do not receive ANY government funding, meaning it would be entirely a loss of government funds with very little saved.
Important to remember if anyone claims this will help the economy: that is #misinformation.

let me just say this one thing right away, as we are talking #limitstogrowth and this WILL come up sooner or later. i will not talk about #population apart from the fact that the problem has theoretically been solved long time ago. the solution is very, very simple and proven by tons & tons of data. it is a thing that has only winners and it is called #womensrights.

For the first time, a gray #wolf pack has been confirmed in #LassenVolcanicNationalPark! According to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, this new pack likely consists of a breeding pair and one or two pups. The unnamed pack likely came from the #LassenPack—the state's most established wolf #population.

#Wolves once thrived all across #America, but a century ago, targeted #hunting and #trapping completely eliminated wolves from #Oregon.
Only in 2008 did wolves slowly begin to return to Oregon. Their numbers are increasing, but their #population is still fragile with fewer than 200 wolves in the entire state.
