Just fixed quickly an issue with videos being cropped too much in some corner-case situations (replies mostly) in Mastodon v4.4.0-alpha.4 and Mastodon Bird UI nightly versions.
Mastodon Bird UI 2.1.2rc12 (nightly) for nightly/alpha/mainline versions is now available.

We have now successfully upgraded to v4.4.0-alpha.4+mementomods-2025-03-14 @mementomorisocial. This upgrade contains latest and newest version, including the security updates.

@Sunraku The official Mastodon Bird UI consist of two versions, dark and light. There is no pure black version. There could be multiple color variants but each adds extra layer to maintaining and I intend to keep it single file repo.
There are forks and variants like Catppucin Mocha -version: https://cool-as-heck.blog/mastodon-birdui-catppuccin-mocha/ - but I'm not going to maintain them, sorry

Released a bugfix release 2.0.7.
Mastodon Bird UI 2.0.6 stable is now released! This version supports Mastodon v4.3.2 and v4.4.0-alpha.

There are many contributors but not as many developers we need for faster contributions. Frankly I think the steady pace is way to go, let's not move fast and break things. I have a day job but have plans. Then there's @thisismissem among others who do contribute a lot more. You should also point these ideas and concerns to @renchap.
Personally for now I'm focusing on my own Mastodon fork and #MastodonBirdUI. Maybe some day getting more done in a form of core contributions as well.

It would be great to have the mobile nav more compact again. Its height feels too much on smaller phones.
In the original UI the header is way too cramped. In Mastodon Bird UI and Tangerine the screen estate is designed to be more well used, but lately the header hack no longer works, because the "tab wrapper" is inside the feed and cannot be shifted on top of the top bar "ui header" no more.
Any ideas @nileane / @renchap? Before sending an issue or PR request I'd like some thoughts on this.
