When I was done with the gardening I saw the three-legged water skink, along with a four legged companion, checking out the small blue plastic plate that I used to feed them 4 weeks ago. They clearly remembered that last time the big human made an awful racket in the yard dog food appeared on that blue plate afterwards, and so as soon as I sat down they came out of hiding to check the plate.

Not wanting to leave them disappointed I went inside to get them something, and returned with some canned superworms. The two of them made a feast of those, and even had a Lady & the Tramp moment when they both tried to eat the same one.

Continuing to make friends with Justine, the wild Eastern Water Skink that lives under our shed.

She was outside when I went to hang out the laundry so I gave her another mealworm in the food bowl, and she clearly recognises the food bowl now because she immediately ran over and looked inside. After eating that she came back for more so I decided to see if she would take one from my hand and yep, she did.

I was being watched intently by an Eastern Water Skink while I was bringing in and hanging out laundry. I'm pretty sure this is the same skink that I fed last November and December (when they were heavily gravid) and that they were hoping that I might feed them again. Luckily for them I did happen to have some giant mealworms (bought for Jerry our pet blue tongue) so I put one in a bowl and they snapped it up.

I accidentally watered the lizard, and I don't think he's very pleased about it.

I didn't realise he was in his cool end hide when I watered his plants so he got thoroughly dampened with cold water running in from the fern just outside. He emerged a few minutes later and slowly made his way to his basking rock, and is now giving me intense side eye while he dries out and warms up.

... it's a decoration/hide for our pet blue tongue skink. My son wanted us to give him a model rocket of his own, and I figured that if I made it large enough, with large enough openings at each end, he might like using it as a hide. We shall see what the lizard thinks. (2/2)
