Some locals say the temple is from Hoysala times (11-14 CE); others say it's from Kadamba times (4-6 CE) but I'm not sure about either.
The pictures progressively go from outside the temple toward the altar. The phallic shape rock is a "linga" representing shiva.

Thursday: 11.26km neighborhood walk in beautiful #malenadu region #Karnataka #India. ~A third of the walk was on roads thro' an evergreen forest. Visited a temple (apparently many centuries old) and a primary school while on the walk.
