#ArtAdventCalendar - Dec 20th. Traditional Art (4/4)

(Almost) Every year, some dear friends from Duisburg/Cologne are handcrafting these paper stars to send out to their dear ones. I feel honoured to be counted among them. This wall is now documenting almost twenty years of shared experiences. And they say connections made on the internet do not last...
Number 15 is the first blue one.

A dark green wall with fourteen paper stars pinned to it with string. Each star is a variation of 5- to 10 pointed shapes of different colours layered upon each other. They very much in style and colour, though red and yellow are dominating.
the new one is the first in blue. They say the descision is due to available colours in the local store. But it's the first after their move to a new form of living, so their might be more to it subconciously.

Aluminum Christmas trees were manufactured in the U.S. beginning in the mid-1950s.

Their popularity waned after A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS equated them w/ commercialization in 1965.

More than a million were sold — despite the risk of electrocution if used w/ electric lights. Good grief!

Christmas tree bubble lights were patented in the 1930s, but not available until 1946 due to wartime shortages.

NOMA was the first to market them — and made more than 25 million in the first 2 years.

The liquid inside them was carcinogenic, but they sure were pretty to look at. ☠️ 🎄
