I'm so close to the fucking edge this year.
I got a 1 kg bag of tapioca pearls for boba tea to make cheaper at home so I can still have a treat. Saw the price tag and was like "hmmm. *Do* I want / deserve an easy sweet treat I can add nutrient powder to as needed and sip for hydration?"
I got it in the end, but everyone deserves nice things. Yes, even the people you hate. Even the asshole down the street. Maybe if they got nice things and felt nicer, they might be kinder to people around them, idfk.

"In reality, this is a hastily arranged partisan Republican #budget that ... doesn’t just tilt spending in a far-right direction, it actually abdicates congressional responsibility as the branch of #government that makes federal spending decisions."

U.S. Politics, budget, urgent call to action
Call your senators, especially Democrats, and tell them to vote NO on cloture and on the Republican spending bills; the proposed budget would DEVASTATE millions--including you, eventually, as that shit ripples through the economy.
@shansterable the whole #DebtCeiling bs needs to be abolished!
Every #GovernmentShutdown the #USA does should result in a permanant #downgrade in it's #CreditRating - period!
Ron Davis has a detailed blog post tracking how an initial $20M budget increase ballooned into a $100M cop slush fund.

"Musk & his advisers... did not want to create a #commission, as past #budget hawks had done. They wanted direct, insider access to #government systems. They realized they could use the #digital office, whose staff had been focused on helping agencies fix #technology problems, to quickly penetrate the federal govt — and then decipher how to break it apart."

While #Trump says he will balance the #budget & pay down the #debt, it’s worth remembering that he promised during the 2016 campaign that he could eliminate the entire national debt accumulated over more than two centuries during 8 years in office. Instead, during his first term, he ADDED $8.4 trillion in new borrowing over 10 years.
#Trump said “I think we’ll be very close to balancing budgets,” but that appears unlikely to say the least. None of the plans advanced so far offer a credible plan to balance the federal #budget, which has a deficit of nearly $2T a year. Instead, Trump is pushing for large tax cuts for #corporations & the #wealthy that will make it harder to balance the budget.

"“If the Republican budget passes, the deficit gets worse, not better,” #MAGA cheerleader Rep Thomas Massie wrote Monday on X.
“That sounds bad,” #ElonMusk replied... leaving the #budget in a precarious, vote-lacking position.
The weight of a three-word X reply from the... unelected civilian seriously irked some members of the #Republican Party"
I cannot stress this enough, take an inventory of your pantry, write it all down. Every last can and jar of sauce and bag of noodles. This is especially important if you aren't an organized person. You can't save money if you're buying duplicate items.
I have so much cocoa powder I'm going to have to open a bakery.

#WhiteHouse #budget proposal could shatter the #NationalScienceFoundation
"This kind of cut would kill American #science and boost #China."
Two sources told Ars the science agency should expect to see steep cuts in Trump's forthcoming budget request. In recent years, #NSF has received annual budget of approximately $9B, vast majority of which is spent on research. Cuts could be as deep as 66%, with one person indicating top-line budget number for NSF could start at $3B.

The Trump tax bill cost us $2 trillion in lost revenue, deepened inequality, and increased our national debt, creating a false narrative of scarcity...
Since the tax cuts passed in 2017, a new billionaire class has emerged, with the richest 400 billionaires now paying a lower effective tax rate than most Americans.
Americans across the political spectrum agree: the ultra rich and corporations aren’t paying their fair share.
Next week, House Republicans will reveal their budget bill, which will make trillions of dollars in cuts to vital programs to line the pockets of corporations and billionaires.
Learn how we can fight back against their failed "trickle-down" policies that make the rich richer. Together, we can build an economy that works for all of us, not just the wealthy few.
Join us this Wednesday, February 5th, at 7:00pm ET/6pm CT/5:00pm MT/4:00pm PT for a teach-in about the tax and budget fight.
