Day 11 - I want to make a link-list, so: What websites do you recommend to learn about autism?
It doesn't have to be a website in English language.

Day 10 - What's the thing your autism causes the most problems for you in everyday life? Are there workarounds that help you? e.g. headphones against noise?
It's a longer question, I just hope to hear about your struggles and workarounds. Let's share experiences and kind advice!

It occurs to me, there's nothing wrong with my brain.
I would thrive in a slow, gentle world focused on candor and justice with lots of quiet, natural environments to chill and let deep thoughts unfold.
I just happen to be terribly wired for a society that's pretty much going off the rails in all directions.
Day 9 - What would your perfect day look like? Dreaming is allowed; it doesn't have to be realistic!

Question 3: What’s your favourite stim?
My favourite way of self-soothing is rubbing my cheeks on soft fabric. It’s almost like a self-hypnosis where my inner voice is just “rub, rub, rub rub, rub rub” in the rhythm that feels best in the moment. I do it with soft cushions, plushies or blankets and it makes me incredibly self-conscious.
I barely let anyone see it, writing a post about it feels weird too.
Being autistic is weird sometimes. So enjoy that info i guess? Maybe I find other weirdos who feel similar hehe.

Question 2 from https://autistics.life/@marionline/114262841963843028
Tell us a thing about your autism you like. What do you like about yourself?
A surprisingly loaded question. Which aspects of me make me autistic? Is my whole being entirely autistic or are there aspects i could isolate?
I am unsure how to answer that for myself if I´m completely honest.
What I do know is that an aspect that has always set me apart from others (for the better and for the worse) is my "softness".
My love for soft fabrics, plushies, my calming voice, patience and cuddly-ness.
I'm slow to anger and rarely raise my voice. Many people appreciate my love for deeply personal conversations and open up with me easily.
More than a few people have started to call me an "anxiety-pet" in reference to my ability to talk them through fears and other difficult life situations. I tend to analyze people quite a lot which allows me to nudge them into certain directions or towards information they might find helpful.
I do think that these aspects are connected to me being autistic. My way of emphasizing with other people is intertwined with the need to rationalize behavior in the first place in order to understand social constructs.

I ventured over to reddit, after reading a comment someone made about one of my special interests.
It's a cold hole No place for Autistics. The mod bot kept knocking back my contributions. (Apparently, one needs to be on there 24/7, yet at any one time I was in the sub, out of 49,000 members, there were never more than 10 members online).
I gave up, after 3 days. April is about Acceptance, not rejection. #ActuallyAutisticElder

I kind of missed that we had a media pack for this, so at least I'm posting it now. Unfortunately too late for the streams for this weekend
But I will do my best to post ads for these for the coming weekends! Streams start at 2 PM Britain Time (10 AM ADT, 6 AM PDT) on Saturdays. My stream for the event will be on the 26th! It'll be a Special Super Shuffle with a couple of guests which I'll announce closer to the stream date.
Doing what works for me.
Finding my routine.
Discovering my way.
I'm different.
I see differently.
My needs are different.
Self-discovery.
Self Advocacy.
Self Respect.

Today’s Question for #AutismAcceptanceMonth, Day 6: What was an occasion where you felt able to unmask and be yourself around others?
I don’t think I have yet. I don’t think I even know how. Unmasking comes with so many risks that I’ve learned about the hard way.
However… I feel I can reduce the masking when I’m around other kind neurodivergent people (or those with ND traits, doesn’t even matter if someone identifies or not). Only realised this for the first time recently shortly after realising I’m autistic. I disclosed at uni to younger student friends. They just accepted me and my differences, and I did of them and theirs too. Amazing experience.

Day 5, Question 5: Let's invent new autism logos, because we don't want to be puzzle pieces. Share your ideas and drawings!
I actually love the infinity sign already. Either the gold version which plays on the fact gold is known as Au, also the first two letters or autism, or the rainbow coloured version, which to me represents the diverse autistic community and all our spectra!
I would use either depending on whether I’m referring exclusively to autism or to the whole, neurodiverse autistic experience, which can include other neurotypes like ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, etc.
Day 4 (4th April) and I just joined this so here goes! My answers to the great question prompts (see quoted post for more info and context):
1. What is your current hobby(special interest)?
Watching Black American history shows on Netflix (Hidden Figures, Harriet, Self-Made, Gifted Hands).
Planting and growing seeds and bulbs while having no idea what I’m doing!
And my lifelong special interest is horses: their ecology, biology, behaviour, communication, etc. Mostly wild horses.
2. Tell us a thing you like about your autism? What do you like about yourself?
My work is usually very thorough and deemed high quality, plus I always strive to have integrity and honour my word. I’m passionate about DEI and accessibility, too.
3. What is your favourite stim?
Fizzy drinks! But I try to limit them due to the negative impact on my health. I especially love Cherry Pepsi Max.
4. How would you explain autism to someone who never heard about this?
I have a spiky skill set and senses. That means that, while abilities and senses vary from person-to-person and between contexts, mine tend to vary much more wildly. Sometimes that means I have a strength that is stronger than most, other times it might mean I find some situations much more challenging or even impossible compared to most people. The way I communicate, express emotions, and cope with stress tends to be very different as an autistic person too. That means it can be hard to connect with non-autistic people and it takes a lot more deliberate effort to explain myself or understand others. I can sometimes understand other autistics intuitively and it’s so much easier to connect, but due to the whole spiky skill set thing that us autistics have, meaning we are a highly diverse group of people… this isn’t true for everyone.
