The Magellanic woodpecker (Campephilus magellanicus) is a species of large woodpecker found in southern Chile and southwestern Argentina; it is the southernmost example of the genus Campephilus, which includes the famous ivory-billed woodpecker. This species is mainly pure black, with a white wing patch and a grey, chisel-like beak. Males have a crimson head and crest. Lily McGee Botanical Garden Vero Beach Florida McKee Botanical Garden, located at 350 U.S. Highway 1 in Vero Beach, Florida, is an 18-acre subtropical oasis renowned for its diverse plant collections and serene landscapes. Established in 1929 by Waldo E. Sexton and Arthur G. McKee, the garden was designed by landscape architect William Lyman Phillips, who integrated streams, ponds, and trails into the native tropical hammock. After a period of closure and land sales in 1976, the garden was revitalized and reopened in 2001. It is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places and recognized by the Garden Conservancy as a preservation project of national significance. ​ One of the garden's most celebrated features is its extensive waterlily collection, which includes over 100 varieties, some spanning more than three feet across. Dogwood Dream

In Yosemite Valley you can explore nature from the micro level to the macro-grand level.
In the springtime the dogwoods along the Merced River bloom in large white flowers and the river serves a wonderful backdrop for these beautiful flowers.
This image was digitally converted with a painterly effect to give it a soft, colorful dreamlike look.

Dogwood Dream This beautiful dogwood flower was captured hanging over the Merced River in Yosemite Valley. The thin branch comes into the image near the top right corner seemingly coming out of nowhere. The branch bends down to the lower center part of the image due to the weight of the large flower on a thin branch. There are a few leaves on the branch as well. The background is a bokeh pattern of blue circles due to the light being pulled from the Merced River. I have processed this order to give the colors somewhat of a fluorescent glow.
