I've been thinking about peer-to-peer web. There's no reason everyone couldn't run little servers 24/7 at home for serving personal websites, but there's a security risk involved.

Therefore I wondered if it was possible to have some sort of slow-sync web... the idea that you could subscribe to someone's blog or gallery or zine and so long as both your servers 'wake up' at the same time they do a quick sync and go back to sleep.

It would be like how we did things in the (not so good) old days: you dial up, check and write your email, then log off after 30 minutes because it's taking up the phone line.

I guess there would probably still be a security risk even for that small window...
