Note: I don't represent anyone from Centre T, I'm just a random person who wants to share and help

Centre T has a shelter in Armenia for trans people that left Russia due to transphobic laws and political persecution, and is currently financially struggling. Because Russian people are mostly poor and can't afford donating, I'm asking everyone on fedi to help to cover as many months as possible.

Regular donations are a priority, but one-off are welcomed too

MAY 2025 FRIENDS OF THE SHELTER FOR TRANSGENDER PEOPLE CAMPAIGN You have funded March AND even overfunded April 2025! We'll use those extra 59 euro for May. You have also committed to 967 euro in monthly donations. To fully fund Yerevan shelter in a stable way, we need another 1433 euro in recurrent donations. Your 50 euro means 200 euro for us in terms of what costs we can cover! Your donations cover rent for a three-room apartment (shelter capacity is up to 6 people at a time), utilities, household chemicals, basic food and medicine for those who are unable to afford those costs. It also includes the support of the project by a psychologist and coordinator. Center T helps transgender people in Russia and those in exile in other countries. The Russian government persecutes LGBT people by making xenophobia its state policy. You can read the stories of hate crime victims here and here [links are on buy me a coffee site]. Most often our shelter residents are people who had to flee Russia urgently because of state persecution or domestic violence, as well as transgender people from Armenia itself. Let’s create some stability for an emergency shelter for trans people together!

UPDATE: I asked Centre T and got a response that they're still in need of support. At the moment €1,387 raised of €1,463, that is 95% of the goal for the April

Yesterday was Transgender Visibility Day Yes, as always I write everything out of date Every month we collect numerous testimonies of how visibility in Russia for transgender people turns into humiliation, violence, persecution. Often the difference in risks between LGB people and trans people is that it is impossible to hide. It is impossible to become similar to your passport data, it is impossible to become invisible in an unfriendly environment, and with changed documents - for government agencies. This means that it is impossible to safely contact any government agencies. For more than three years now, we have been working every day to change and compensate for this reality. So that people at least survive. So that they have someone to turn to for help. So that they have a place to hide from persecution. This is an emotionally and psychologically difficult, exhausting job, where it is impossible to dose the load, impossible to put the phone down. The job, because of which I lost many things dear to me and the opportunity to return to Russia. As did all my colleagues.
But let it keep me going that I know how much good we are doing and that we are really making a difference. But what really finishes us off is not yet another story of violence that we have to deal with, but the need to still find money for all our work. Thinking about whether we are closing the shelter today or whether it can survive for another month? (How can you even run a shelter project without some kind of financial safety net??? And there really isn’t one.) Thinking about where to get money for evacuation in the middle of the night? Where to get money for a doctor’s consultation in the middle of the night? Thinking about how our employees can even live on their salaries? And what is the next one that needs to be cut because there is no more money?... This is the part of the job that really destroys me. For three years, I have felt a constant, unrelenting anxiety about where to find financial support and how to live if we fail at this task. On the occasion of yesterday's International Trans Day of Visibility, I want to ask you: support our work. It is vital for many people, and we cannot stop doing it. But we are regularly left without money.
We are currently collecting for the shelter project. We have 181 euros left to fund the project in April. And in May we will have to start collecting again (1463 euros), since most donations are one-time. And the shelter's work is regular, and it never ends. I want to finally sleep peacefully. I want to know that the shelter will be available to people in April, and May, and June. And, oh my God, in December! If you are ready to support the project (sorry, only transfers from foreign cards are possible, and this is also a pain in the ass for us), then please, better subscribe for the minimum amount, but regularly. So we can at some point come to the point where regular donations cover the needs of the entire project, and we just work calmly. And in a wonderful world it would be cool if we had money left over from this collection for emergency aid (which is always needed!)
