Today I learned (<a href="https://norden.social/tags/TIL" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#TIL</a>) that the author is a woman Grace Todino who wrote also the famous nutshell book Unix for beginners .

I'm not too impressed with some of the busy newsgroups because of trolls and nutters. Other groups I watch but rarely post to: rocksolid.nodes.help sci.crypt comp.os.plan9 (moderated by plan9 devs) alt.cyberpunk alt.folklore.computers alt.hackers news.admin.peering hispagatos.talk alt.cypherpunks alt.privacy.anon-server I follow some others and usually I don't find myself much interested in the discussions. Modern Usenet is different than its heyday. Messages are generally much more infrequent.
