BellingenNSW<p>Traffic on beaches<br>It's the Wild West - turning beach ecology into a Woolies car park</p><p>Off-road vehicles are allowed to cause "serious ecological harm" to beaches, dunes and estuaries ecosystems. Vehicles traffic is causing "unequivocal serious and widespread damage" to coastal dune ecosystems. "All of the species had suffered negative effects caused by off-road vehicles. The four-by-fours running over them basically crush them to death."</p><p>"Professor Schlacher said the Noosa North Shore, Rainbow Beach, K'gari and Bribie Island were among the car-accessible beaches that were being "pummelled to death"". On Bribie Island "there can be 1,200 vehicles on the beach in one day, and that's ridiculous. Swede’s Photographs<p>The Crossing</p><p>This image reminded me of Emanuel Leutze's 1851 painting, 'Washington Crossing the Delaware.' However, this scene takes place on the Red River, not the Delaware. The figure perched on the edge of a log is a great egret (Ardea alba), which, in my imagination, strikingly resembles someone standing magnificently at the bow of a boat. Cefiar<p>There are reports that vets and rangers can currently access the HomeSafeID register, but of course it is unknown how long this will continue. It's also unknown if the data will be picked up by another party or how that would work from a privacy, legislative, even just the actual process of transferring the data.</p><p>If your pet isn't Microchipped, definitely consider it.
