Weekly GNU-like #MobileLinux Update (11/2025): #Libadwaita 1.7 and news from #Sxmo
If you always wanted to run a tiling window manager on your smartphone, give Sxmo a try.
They just added a nice getting started guide to nicely illustrate how gestures are used to open the menu, bring up and close the keyboard, switch between workspaces and more:

Great work @pocketvj and Sxmo team!
Weekly GNU-like #MobileLinux Update (09, 10/2025): Too much to put in a title
@rolandlo @NekoCWD @postmarketOS Looks like #phosh (which uses phoc as compositor). Should also work on #sxmo (using sway).
new to #sxmo #postmarketos #linuxmobile ?
thanks to #friction2d i made gifs on how to use gestures
(let me know if you are motivated to create a greeter...)
Just a reminder about the meetup in Christchurch, New Zealand on February 26.

@cas Front camera on op6 with qcam on #PostmarketOS with #sxmo.
For the first time ever, I met actual people using #sxmo and #postmarketos, in the flesh! At #fosdem2025 .
Fifth talk in #FOSSonMobile at #fosdem2025:
Sxmo: A mobile UI for hackers | Marten van Gompel @proycon

#Sxmo
@T_X Also the bet i made 5y ago is won: how disappointing it seemed at first, it is the power of the communities, the cleverness of the free/libre software developpers and users, and the personal work on tweaking and tinkering that made it over time get way better: more performance, adequation to my own needs, battery life even!
I composed an environment based on the free/libre modem "distro" https://github.com/the-modem-distro/pinephone_modem_sdk, #postmarketOS edge, #sxmo and mostly TUI tools: #tut #aerc #gomuks #links -g
Here are the main menus for the sxmo_gshock.py script I'm using on my phone running #sxmo
This script evolved a lot since the last time I wrote about it, I can now get reminders or setup alarms from my calendar using khal and change timezone using #mepo
I'd like to keep it simple, so it should not evolve much from now
Weekly GNU-like #MobileLinux Update (52/2024): The Last One of the Year
https://linmob.net/weekly-update-52-2024/
With: #postmarketOS 24.12, #Danctnix, #UbuntuTouch, # SailfishOS, #Sxmo, #Megapixels and more #LinuxMobile fun!
finally two nice language translators landed in #sxmo #pmos #linuxmobile.
i was so annoyed about not having a decent offline translator on my phone that i finally created my own.
running with #apertium or #libretranslate,
having a conversation mode (to flip languages), a speak module reading out loud the translations (to learn!), and automaticaly put translations into clipboard (see https://odysee.com/@sharinggoodmoments:2/sxmop6_translate).
time to learn some spanish..,
postmarketOS 24.12 released based on Alpine Linux 3.21 with GNOME Shell on Mobile 46, KDE Plasma Mobile 6.2.4, Phosh 0.43.1, Sxmo 1.17.0, doas instead of sudo
this one nearly drove me crazy...
since years we have a very ugly, non mobile friendly, filepicker in #sxmo #linuxmobile (image1).
after countless hours and asking so many people for help (thx @agx ) finally a writeup on how to configure yazi (image2) as your default filepicker.

ever wondered why there is no alarm/timer/countdown in #sxmo #pmos #linuxmobile
dont worry, follow this to get one:
