Feral Strumpet<p>Kiki Smith, Tattoo Print, 1995. Smith’s work has been a lifelong influence on my visual work, jewellery design as well as my writing. I love this print of tattoo ‘flash’—with all its vulvamorphia and decorative motifs. Ele Willoughby, PhD<p>The next prompt from <a href="https://spore.social/tags/printerSolstice2425" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>printerSolstice2425</span></a> is silicon and as a geophysicist I am always going to think of SiO2, quartz, one of my favourites and the first mineral I printed in this older <a href="https://spore.social/tags/linocut" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>linocut</span></a>. Quartz was the first mineral I learned to identify as a child. Rhapsodizing about the averageness of its physical properties might sound like a strange yet boring thing to celebrate but physicists love using the power of approximation. 🧵1/n</p><p><a href="https://spore.social/tags/printmaking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>printmaking</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/sciart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sciart</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/quartz" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>quartz</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/mineral" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mineral</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/MastoArt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MastoArt</span></a></p>
mika<p>Some simple lino I did. It was fun working with symmetry like this, took a piece of paper, folded it twice, drew the design, cut then traces it</p><p><a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/printmaking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>printmaking</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/lino" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lino</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/mastoart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mastoart</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/fediart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fediart</span></a></p>
Ele Willoughby, PhD<p>Somehow we’ve made it to March. “In like a lion…” This is an original first edition lino block print showing a lioness and a lion, sitting in the grass, watching. I was inspired by a photograph my mother took in the Ngorongoro conservation area in Tanzania. It is called, "The Watchers, Ngorongoro". The photo gives the strong impression the lions are watching the people back. 🧵1/2</p><p><a href="https://spore.social/tags/lion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lion</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/linocut" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>linocut</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/printmaking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>printmaking</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/conservation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>conservation</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/savannah" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>savannah</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/MastoArt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MastoArt</span></a></p>
