I roughly understand how do they work, but I would prefer to see some basic code because some parts are like magic for me. What I plan to build is similar to a torrent client, but I don't understand how clients search each other and how do they connect to each other.</p><p>If you can point to some Python or C/C++ code, that would be awesome.</p>

ZeroNet was a <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/P2P" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>P2P</span></a> web project from the 2010s along similar lines to I2P (<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I2P" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I2P</span><span class="invisible"></span></a>) and <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/Tor" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Tor</span></a> hidden services. The idea of hosting dynamic webpages in a completely P2P fashion, like torrents, remains super cool and appealing to me. Someone was maintaining a fork at some point, and at other times I heard that ZeroNet was (now?) insecure, although I know no details. Certainly anything P2P isn't anonymous by default.</p><p>I found this question (<a href="https://github.com/HelloZeroNet/ZeroNet/issues/2749" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">github.com/HelloZeroNet/ZeroNe</span><span class="invisible">t/issues/2749</span></a>) about the creator of ZeroNet. The new implementation is based on extensive simulations and tests, before it was implemented and released, putting to rest systematically all <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/P2P" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>P2P</span></a> group membership issues that occured in the last years. Group membership consistency is also important for end-to-end encryption security.</p>

Sometimes you haven't got a good choice. Only "bad" and "very bad" ones. In which case it's logical to choose "bad" because it's the "best" choice.</p><p>Last but not the least, cryptocurrencies are developed in the open in the general case. Where in the case of something like USD, it's up to the <a href="https://cr8r.gg/tags/US" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>US</span></a> government and central bank. If you don't like a crypto and you think your idea is better, it is possible to fork it and form your own community and network. The aim is to reinforce existing blocking measures, but VPN providers see this as a dangerous move, leading to potential security issues and overblocking. As a result, some are considering leaving France altogether if push comes to shove.</p><p>exit<br>Copyright holders see pirate site blocking as an effective and proportional tool to combat widespread online piracy.</p><p>Over the years, courts and lawmakers in dozens of countries have agreed, resulting in a patchwork of blocking regimes around the globe.</p><p>Initially, these efforts focused on residential ISPs as the key intermediaries. While these companies were not blamed directly, they were the go-to parties to implement blocking. That proved insufficient, however.</p><p>More recently, DNS resolvers have been targeted with blocking orders.
