Phil LamI'm looking for help desk software right now, and I'm realizing that I'm not looking for open source tools so that I can build/deploy/maintain them myself. In fact, I very much want to pay someone for the trouble of hosting the software and working on it--I'm an obsessive (in a bad way) sysadmin and a middling coder.What I'm looking for is really more of a commitment that the developer won't screw me later. <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/OSS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#OSS</a> isn't a guarantee of that, of course, but it's a pretty good proxy.

electragicianHi folks, I'm trying to jumpstart federation on my little gotosocial instance and get a more full feed of things to read and interact with. I could use your help. If you could boost this, I would appreciate it. If you see this and favorite it, I will follow you if your interests seem to align with mine. I'm not asking for follows... rather I'm asking for you to help me shout out into the ether that I'M looking for people to follow. My main interests are going to be hashtagged below. By the way, the way hashtags work here is that currently, if I search, I only see what my server is already knows about... which would mean just the folks I follow, since I'm a single-user instance. Am I?Just been to the Danish premiere of "Ada & Zangermann" - the movie. Turns out, not only was that story part of the inspiration. 💓 EV∆ ∆ΠΠ∆ 💓Sometimes I think, maybe I should use TrueNAS, and then I remembered that their C•Suite decided to give the 🖕🏻 to FreeBSD... the very same operating system and community of developers and engineers who enabled their company to exist from the start, to scale to the level which brought them success and growth and accolades from the OSS and enterprise storage communities alike. So no, I don't use TrueNAS. Whatever many reasons they and their indolent fanboys push for moving to Linux, and I have heard them all, it's irrelevant. They didn't just bite the hand that feeds, they went straight over to the clown-show makeup meme table and slathered it on; trying so hard to convince everyone including themselves that this betrayal was the Good and Ethical thing to do. Luckily there are alternatives, and those will get my time, engineering efforts, and fiscal support.
