Yvonne Perkins<p>This morning we went to the Melbourne Flower and Garden Show with my mother. A grandchild pushed her around the Carlton Gardens in a wheelchair. I carried all the plants she bought - more than 10. When we got back to her place, grandchild and I repotted quite a few plants and bulbs. </p><p>We concentrated on just what Mum wanted to see. Yvonne Perkins<p>This morning our volunteer group potted over 100 cuttings and several punnet of seeds! We have potted hardy plants such as geraniums, jasmine, various varieties of succulents, coriander, parley, thyme, and oregano. </p><p>As those of you who are following the Grand Prix will know, Melbourne has had soaking rain all morning - very welcome by gardeners after sustained dry, hot weather. We started in the rain at 7:30am by getting a large collection of cuttings from my mother's garden, then went home, put a tarpaulin on the garage floor and started potting. While we worked, we moved potted plants onto the footpath to get watered by the rain. </p><p>We hope to plant them out in our street in a few weeks and organise a street party where we give some plants away to neighbours. Joanna Holman<p>Pro-tip for people who read a lot: library ebook/audiobook app Libby will let you search and borrow from multiple libraries and many libraries will let you be a member even if you don’t live in their immediate area. For example, City of Melbourne and Merri-bek libraries allow people living anywhere in Victoria to be a member (you do have to visit a branch to sign up though).
