#introductions Howdy, hackers! I'm cæla. I'm a thirty-something computer-whisperer new to the idea of not being ashamed of myself when my gender isn't what people expect. I'm still figuring that out, and appreciate unsolicited advice / shared experiences regarding the topic.
Anyway, I'm leaning #genderfluid and #enby these days and experimenting to see what feels good.
Favorite aesthetics #vampirecore #goblincore #cassette_futurism and #cyberpunk (I'm a hot mess I know)
I love all kinds of music. Currently Will Wood and The Narcissist Cookbook are on repeat.
I'm married, so no horniness please, but platonic compliments are welcome.
I'm here to reflect on whats happening with me, to share my experiences, to be a part of a community that gets me, and maybe make a few friends along the way.
Okay, so there's a joke in the xBiking community about having "Talismans" on your bike, and I want to turn into the skid and take it a little more literally. I already have a Nazar on my saddlebag, but I'd love to inscribe some wards/glyphs/sigils/runes as I build it up, and I'm looking for ideas.
I'm building the wheels, and wheelbuilders already frequently hang a loop around the hub, so that could be an interesting place to hang something.
Etching protective glyphs along the fender is kind of what got me down this rabbithole.
I know rotating circles are supposed to be powerful, so inscribing something along the rims might be interesting.
I'm open to ideas from any culture or tradition, but would prefer to avoid christian/angelic iconography. Just not my speed.
This bike is moving in a bit of a goblincore direction, and I'd like to lean into that.
I'm open to trading mechanic expertise for favors, or skillsharing!

I got the opportunity to get myself a Woodzilla linocut press and i used it for the first time today to print this mysterious creature :) It’s so much faster and it gives much more precise results than burnishing the paper with a wooden spoon! I even went the extra mile and used thicker paper than usual because the press made it possible, and i love the final prints

This is how it's made (the final stage at least).
For Day 8 of #DecRecs, for what I'd consider my favorite book I read in 2023, "Strange Beasts of China" by Yang Ge. Originally found on a goblincore book rec list, this book feels like a unique where these sort of -core aesthetics can be eurocentric, or play into exotic orientalism. It is a bestiary of various creatures found in Yong'an, with an overarching plot that has us questioning what it means to be human. Definitely look elsewhere if you're looking for something cozy, it is meant to be a bit unsettling and frustrating, but in a way that makes me feel seen. The source text in Chinese was written in 2003, and wasn't translated till about two decades later, with the author's approval.

Telling people I have a shop makes my brain itch because I have a deeply rooted fear of being bothersome or annoying, but from time to time lovely people indicate they like and want to see and own my works, actually. As such, an advisory: if you’re in the UK and want to secure any goods ahead of the holiday, don’t delay too much as I’ll need to shutter my shop while I’m away over the break!
Hello!
I've made an alt account for my taxidermy arts so here is where they will be posted!
Here's what you need to know:
This account is about posting natural beauty.
I will be posting vulture culture taxidermy here!
Unsure what vulture culture is? Vulture culture is an online subculture consisting of hobbyist taxidermist, getting it's roots from traditional taxidermy. The main difference is a vulture culture being, also known as a vulture, does not hunt animals for trophy, they rather instead collect and preserve remains of animals that have deceased naturally, by the roads, or left overs from hunters.
I am not against hunting as an entire, i'm against trophy hunting.
You can expect posts from this account containing images of bones, butterflies, dead things, forests, feathers, birds, etc.
