Undiscovered ScotlandCulross in Fife, on the north shore of the Firth of Forth. FiI don't normally share fundraiser type things on here. A local Fife charity called Autism Rocks is facing closure because the building they are based in is being sold off by Church of Scotland. Now many people will be rolling their eyes and going "okay", I would be too but...and this is a big one....When a child is diagnosed autistic by NHS Fife, you are given an "information" booklet and this is everything you could ever need to know about autism and where to get support. I know, I was handed one of these when my son was diagnosed. I asked the psychologist what help is available the next time my son has me pinned to a wall and is beating the hell out of me...I was told to contact this charity. Insert eyeroll here...totally inappropriate comment from the psych. Never darken the door of the NHS again, everything is autism - including that infected toe, that aneurism, that burst appendix...its all down to that pesky autism. So I got in touch with the charity, told them what I was told, and quite rightly, they laughed. They couldn't help with my child violence, but they could provide a listening here for me and a safe space for both of us. This charity is vital to Fife and the autistic community. FiEver have one of those days that its pretty damn near perfect? I just have. The walk this morning, then a few hours stitching...then a friend suggested we go out, so he could avoid doing stuff around his house. Off to Aberdour we went - a place in Fife that I had never visited before, passed through on the train many a time, but never wandered around. Amazing chips at the cafe, a short walk and sit at Silversands beach - the popular beach, it was busy, lots of kids swimming in the water, so many dogs. Wild wind blowing away the cobwebs. Walking around the coastal path to the quieter beach, up and down steps, a break on the cliffs. Lots of benches line the path, so it was manageable, probably helped by the fact I remembered to take my meds before I went out. Was out far longer than I thought I would be, I think the child enjoyed the peace - and the time on my PC! I absolutely adore this friend that lures me out the house, although I am sure he will be glad to get home to the peace since I didn't stop talking today. Conversations about absolutely everything under the sun, but comfortable silences too. I'm still calm, peaceful, happy but I do need to unwind from today. The pain is already ramping up, tomorrow will be a low activity day.
