The third little bug magnet design has been assembled! I’m still on the fence about making the horns a bit bigger on this one, what do you think?

This is the biggest model so far, and it has two magnets because it just seemed more fitting!

A little felt magnet held on my fingers, overlooking some gardens. The magnet is as long as my fingers and looks similar to a jewel beetle: it’s long and thin and has a three-toned green back, an orange head with silly black and white eyes and two reddish horns and mandibles. Its legs are a dark brown.

Ok, i admit, i couldn't resist do a second version of the mandala, but this time on a bag, and with some green in it. I used a polka dot dark raspberry cotton fabric as a lining and it works so good. Did i found this embroidery as lustful as the tea cozy? Yes i certainly did. Will i do more Mandalas? Yes i will! Will i do more bags? Yes on that too, but next bag will have some kind of closing function, and i do think about do a button closing thing on this one too, or just a zipper. We'll see.

Last picture is the picture i stumble on that inspired me to this choices of colors i used in this bag and also to the tea cozy earlier. Sorry to say i don't know the photographer and can't give them the credit they deserve. When i search for it i just come to an anonymous circle within Google Search. But whoever you are, you are really good and really inspirerad me!

Q1: i'm Jo, a jobbing hacker by day and art experimenter by, well by day too really

this week's project was a work of Craft Forgery? it's a piece of traditional #embroidery of Siwa Oasis requested by my mum, to replace a faded panel in a window blind

blank fabric was from Siwa (imported there) and had the design mostly drawn on in pen. the thread i use came from there, too. was shown the patterns by a matriarch there. so is it really forgery?

I've finished my my leaves on the second piece! Still doing the second outline layer, and filling in the open areas.

The bugle beads will be super fast.

Starting to feel the pressure as I have a month to go and haven't really started the dress. I fit a muslin so I could fit these as pattern pieces, but it feels a million years ago.

Still debating on the belt. If If want to bead it or buy trim. Finding the right vintage belt buckle has been quite the adventure - most the ones I've found are either very expensive or silver rather than gold.

I finally took a proper photo of my summer-themed mitosis sampler (2024). I’m writing a pattern for this one in four season colourways so watch for that in a few months!

Two reproductive cells dividing embroidered on off-white linen. The edges of the dividing egg cells and the nucleus membranes are in bright acid green split stitch. A circle of dark green stem stitch is started for the cell membrane. The corona radiata is in sage green zig zag chain stitch. The nucleolus of each cell is in sage green bullion stitch. The polar bodies are stitched in purple single strand back stitch. The cytoplasm is in variegated dark to bright green thread in a mix of seed stitch and French knots.
